Out front The Brussels Crusaders took on the Lakeshore Winterhawks on Sunday, Nov. 14 in a fast- paced and hard-hitting game at BMG Community Centre. The Winterhawks lead 2-1 at the end of the first and finished the game with a 5-4 victory. Crusaders take weekend split Brussels Midgets victorious The past week was a good one Brussels took a quick 2-0 lead in for the Brussels Midgets as they the first due to goals by Randy went two for two. Assists in the game went to Tim Machan (two), Ryan Finch (two), Brad Mulvey and Mike Dauphin. Brian Campbell with two, Steve Fritz and Corey McKee scored in the losing effort. The game was decided late in the second period when Durham broke open a 2-2 tie scoring four goals in under five minutes. Sunday night in Brussels, three unanswered second period goals helped overcome a 2-1 deficit to give the Crusaders their fifth win in eight games. Dean Wheeler with two, Ron Strome, David McKee and Brian Campbell scored for Brussels in a game that took less than two hours to nlay. The Brussels House League Atoms played their first game of the season against Bayfield. Brussels took a 1-0 lead in the first with a goal by Stephen Todd, assisted by Tyler Bragg. Bayfield rebounded quickly with three goals in the second, two com- ing on powerplays. The home team was unable to recover though they did tack on one more in the third with the goal by Marc Fischer and the assist by Joshua Gropp. Tim Harrison had a strong game in net. Final score was 3-2 for Bayfield. Due to work and school commit- ments the Crusaders dressed only 12 skaters Friday night and iced three defencemen and eight forwards Sunday night. The Crusaders next game is in Brussels Sunday afternoon at 3 against the Palmerston 81s.
