The proposed by-law and description of the lands affected may be viewed In the Municipal Office of the Corporation of the Village of Brussels at the address hereinafter noted. Lest we forget Members of the Brussels Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, Cadets, and the local Scouting and Guiding movement formed the Colour Party for the annual Remembrance Day service at the Brussels cenotaph at the 11th hour on Nov. 11. Several students from Brussels Public School came to witness the event, which honoured the veterans of both world wars. Following the service a church service was held at Duff's United Church, Walton. Legion has busy week By Sandra Josling The Brussels Branch completed a very busy week. On Saturday the Craft and Bake sale was held and was very successful. Many came to look and buy some very beautiful and tasty crafts. A $2,000 donation to the Branch 218 Legion Building Fund was made by Helen Dobson representing the Brussels Ladies Auxiliary. Branch President Al Nichol accepted the much appreciated cheque during the Remembrance Day Banquet. Results of the mixed darts held on Tuesday, Nov. 9 are as follows: Dave McCormick and Sandra Josling, first; Bill Nethery and Martha Logan, second; high shooter, John Harrison (120). Nov. 10 was euchre night at the branch. High scores were Bill Little and Doreen Rutledge, low scores were Clara Haig and Dini Nethery. Most lone hands were Martha Logan and Gordon Nichol and most zeros were Kay Hesselwood and Rob Willie. The mystery draw winner was Alf Sutton. The next euchre is Wednesday, Nov. 24. WI begins quilt On Nov. 20, members of the Majestic Women's Institute 9 gathered at the Bnissels Library. Prn words were said in memory of Remembrance Day. Hymn of All Nations and a few /2 Roll call was answered by naming an item about the country of your ancestors. A card party is to be held on Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. with the committee consisting of Alice Brothers, Leona Connelly, Verna Tunney, Jessie Engel and Doris McCall. Jean Fraser spoke of the Historical meeting. They have an interest in getting the history of the Women's Institutes in Huron County. Yvonne Knight gave a report on the Area Convention. Next year's convention will be held on Oct. 5 and 6 in Cambridge. A reminder to complete the survey on the back of Home and Country was requested. Leona Armstrong invited members to an open house for a book sale at Huronlea on Nov. 22 from 7 - 9 p.m. The quilt to be made for next year's draw was started by cutting the pieces on Nov. 11 at Leona Armstrong's. Donations are to be brought to the Dec. 8 meeting for the shut-in boxes. This meeting will be pot luck and everyone is to bring utensils. Convenor Yvonne Knight spoke on doing Tweedsmuir books. She showed how they were compiling the Cranbrook Women's Institute books and how they were making up extra copies to have in libraries so the originals would not be damaged. Some highlights that were added were myths and facts on sayings of days ago, sure signs to foretell future weather and things to make one weary. Leona Armstrong made a motion to give a donation to Mrs. Knight to help continue doing the Tweedsmuir books surrounding Cranbrook. pub night at the branch on Friday, Nov. 17. Games get started at 9 p.m. The Branch has started their Saturday afternoon meat raffles. The Draws will start after 3 p.m. Rebekahs meet The regular meeting of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge, Brussels took place on Tuesday, Nov. 9 with Noble Grand Lois McCutcheon presiding. There was a good attendance. Donations were made to the Huron Company Christmas Bureau and the Brussels Santa Claus parade committee.
