One of the country's best known choral groups the chorus performs a wide repertoire of music including classical, folk, spiritual and popular favourites. The conductor is Laurence Rowbotham, a former resident of Grey Township. Since its formation in 1947, the chorus has toured across the country as well as performing the the U.S. and Bermuda. The Schneider Male Chorus, one of Ontario's best known non- professional male choruses, will present a concert on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. at Brussels Presbyterian Church. Founded in 1947, the chorus has travelled extensively to present their concerts. In addition to numerous performances in Southern Ontario, the chorus has made extended tours of Eastern and Northern Ontario and to the East The Blyth United Church Choir will be joining internationally renowned composer and pianist Frank Mills, in a Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. Popular, world famous Frank Mills will be featured in "A Cele- bration of Christmas" at Blyth Memorial Hall. The Blyth United Church Choir, under the leadership of Mrs. Phyllis Boak, will be joining Mr. Mills in a presentation of eight to 10 traditional Christmas songs. Mrs. Boak says the choir is practicing very hard to be ready for the concert. 4-Hers bake for Christmas The Brussels 1 4-H club held its fourth meeting on Oct. 25. Following roll call some members started to make turtles while others started to make shortbread or organic boxes out of old cards. They then tasted the baked products. and West coasts of Canada. A number of concerts have also been presented in the United States and Bermuda. The concert material is chosen to appeal to a wide range of musical tastes and includes sacred music, secular and folk songs, spirituals and popular selections from the American musical theatre. Additional features include instrumental and vocal solos, and quartets. The Schneider Male Chorus repertoire adds up to a "Originally, we thought we would only be accompanying Mr. Mills on a couple of songs but then he sent us the list of eight or 10. We are doing our best to be ready by Dec. 5." Over 115 pieces of artwork were won, including works valued at over $1,000. The event raised more than $8,000 for the Festival. There were 120 people in atten- dance and proxy selections were still coming in by fax from Toronto that evening. Development Co- ordinator Lynda Lentz says, "The spirit of celebration was more than evident." Pledge begins meeting Continued from page 14 The second meeting began with the 4-H pledge; then members did the roll call and started on a yule log.• They discussed holiday traditions and while the yule log was baking worked on some crafts in four different groups. One group made mice in a shoe, another group made present covers out of material, the third group made lace angels and the last group made Christmas bumblebees. They then finished making the yule log and ate it, with hot apple cider to drink. The next meeting will be held on Nov. 1 at Dianne Banns house. the Missions Committee of Brussels Mennonite Fellowship. Admission for the concert is $4 for adults and $2 for children under 12.
