Development Committee Wants
To Hear From You!
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 1993
Residents of the Townships of Grey, Howick, Morris, Turnberry,
East Wawanosh, West Wawanosh, the Village of Brussels and
the Town of Wingham are invited to attend a public meeting
being hosted by the North Huron Community Development
Steering Committee.
This Steering Committee was formed following public meetings
held in June and July of 1991 at F.E. Madill Secondary School In
Wingham and the Brussels, Morris & Grey Community Centre,
Brussels. The Community Development Steering Committee
and several special interest groups have been active over the
past two years addressing local community development issues
In North Huron.
On behalf of the above-noted Committee, you are invited to
attend a public meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November
17, 1993, at 8:00 p.m. In the Bluevale Community Hall, Bluevale,
Ontario.
At this meeting, the North Huron Community Development
Steering Committee and the Special Interest Groups
(Agriculture, Economic Development, Education & Personal
Development, Environment, etc.) propose to update residents of
North Huron on projects and activities that have been
undertaken by these Committees over the past 2 years. Further,
the Committee would like to hear your thoughts, Ideas and
suggestions on other activities that would benefit the North
Huron Area. Representatives of Community Futures and the
Business Development Programs will also be making
presentations at this meeting. Please plan to attend this public
meeting to discuss co-operative community development in
North Huron, and bring a friend.

Ethel Community Centre.
The 50/50 winner was Dorothy

accepts tender
Grey Township council held its
regular meeting on Nov. 1 and
accepted the tender of Ryan
Construction for snowplowing at
an hourly rate of $46 per hour and
$20 a day standby.
Council also accepted the tender
of Archibald, Gray & McKay Ltd.
to survey the CN rail property at a
price of $12,200 plus taxes. The
tender of Archibald Gray & McKay
was the lowest of four tenders
received.
In response to an inquiry from
the Huron County engineer,
Council decided to support the
concept of a possible co-operative
sand storage building with the
county and other local
municipalities. Council will also
advise the county that the building
could possibly be located around
the landfill site on County Road 2.5.
In other business, council
approved for payment general
accounts totalling $286,925.89,
drain accounts totalling $1,958.10
and road accounts totalling
$131,096.30.
The next regular meeting of
council is scheduled for nov. 15 at
7:00 p.m.
Walton WI
The Women's Institute meeting
will be held in the Hall Wednesday,
Nov. 17. The theme is Canadian
Industries. Neil McGavin will
show a video on local happenings
in and around Walton. Everyone is
welcome to come.
Mrs. Alice Scott of Belgrave
visited at the same home to join in
the celebrations.
Friends and neighbours of this

sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Paul
McKee and family in the loss of
their dear mother and grandmother
Mrs. Creston McKee who passed
away Friday, Nov. 5 in the
Palmerston Hospital.

Toronto spent the weekend with
their grandmother Mrs. Dorothy
Logan.
Kinsmen plan
daily draws
With some alterations to the cal-
endar fundraiser Belgrave and Dis-
trict Kinsmen hope to almost
completely wipe out the remaining
$27,000 owing on the arena build-
ing project.
This year the price of the calen-
dars has been reduced to $20 a
piece. There will be daily draws for
prizes of $40 and two draws of
$500 each on Jan. 1.
Monthly draws will be for $220,
then on Dec. 31 there will be five
draws of $500 each for a total cash
payment of approximately $20,000
says president Steve Nixon.

Euchre
Thirteen tables of euchre were
played in the WI Hall, Wednesday
evening, Nov. 3.
Winners were: high lady, Iona
McLean; lone hands, Norma
Moore; most twos, Aileen Leddy;
low, Alice Nicholson; high man,
George Carter, lone hands, Stewart
Musgrove; most twos, Lloyd
Appleby and low, Ross Taylor.
There will be euchre next
Wednesday, November 10 at 8 p.m.
Belgrave Community Club began
their fall season with a pot luck
luncheon at the Belgrave
Community Centre. This was
followed by Mrs. Ross Anderson
leading a sing-song accompanied
by Mrs. George Johnston on the
piano.
Mrs. George Michie introduced
the guest, Mr. Lorne MacKenzie,
who entertained on the piano and
sang.
The rest of the afternoon was
spent playing progressive shoot
with 11 tables in play.
Winners were: high lady, Bob
Grasby (playing as a lady); second
high, Mrs. Leona Black; low lady,
Mrs. Cora Clayton; most shoots,
Mrs. Ora Bruce; high man, Dennis
Leddy, second high, George
Michie, low man, Alvin Procter
and most shoots, Dick Moore.

BEGINNERS CLASS REGISTRATION

Elementary Schools
This program will allow some children who become five
years old between January 1, 1994 and July 1, 1994 access
to the existing Kingergarten programs. The Beginners will
attend school with the Kindergarten children all day on
alternate days. Admittance to Beginners classes will be
based on spaces available and birthdates. Registrations will
close on December 3, 1993. Please call the appropriate
Public School to receive more registration details if you are
interested in the program. The program will be implemented
