FOR VOLUNTEERS TO SERVE
AS MEMBERS OF A
DISTRICT HEALTH COUNCIL
will be received by the undersigned.
District Health Councils are local health planning bodies established to provide
advice to the Minister of Health on the health service needs of their communi-
ties. The goal of each DHC is to plan and develop a comprehensive health sys-
tem for the citizens it represents, designed to make the best possible use of
available and potential resources.
Volunteers will possess skills in participatory decision-making, demonstrate an
enthusiasm for planning a healthy community and be able to devote approxi-
mately 12 hours per month to the position.
The members of council are chosen to represent a balance of:
1. Providers who are involved in -the governance, management, or delivery of
health or health-related social services, or
Persons trained as health professionals or para-professionals; and
2. Consumers with an interest in our local health system, but who are not
involved in the actual delivery of health or health-related social services; and
3. Representatives of local government.
Individuals interested in serving on the District Health Council and able to
devote sufficient time and energy are invited to submit a resume to:

Bulls inexperience
costs them 2 games
The Brussels Crusaders won all
three games played this past week
moving into first place in WOAA
Senior A action.
Monday night in Tavistock,
Brussels scored three second period
power-play goals enroute to a 5-3
win over the Royals. Steve Fritz,
Jeff McKee, Corey McKee, JC
Hewitt and Brad Carter scored for
the Crusaders while Derek Cooper
made 41 saves in his first start of
the season.
Friday night Brad Carter scored
three first period goals in leading
Brussels to a 12-3 win over the
Shelburne Muskies. Corey McKee
and Brian Campbell each scored
twice while Ron Strome. Tim Fritz.
Hewitt, Brian McArter, and Ted
Sills added singles in a game
Brussels settled early scoring seven
goals in the opening thirteen
minutes of play. Trevor Fortune,
who lost his shutout bid midway
through third period action picked
up his first win of the year.
Sunday afternoon in Brussels the
Crusaders scored four first period
goals to upset the defending
champion Durham Thundercats 6-
5. Tim Fritz with two, Dave
McKee, Strome, Steve Fritz, and
Carter scored for Brussels who held
period leads of 4-1 and 6-4. Cooper
was in net for his second win of the
week.
The youth and inexperience of
the Brussels Bulls showed up in
two games this weekend.
The Bulls jumped out to a 4-1
lead Sunday in Walkerton but went
to sleep in the final minutes and
wound up tieing the Blackhawks 4-
4. Jonathan Lane paced the Bulls
attack with two goals and an assist.
Nate Bender and Jeremy Beirnes
also picked up goals. Rookie
Winger Pete Mulder picked up two
assists before being tossed from the
game for hitting from behind. He
will sit out the next two games due
to a suspension.
Coach Scott Pettigrew says, "It's
obvious some players panicked
when the pressure was on and we
made some mental errors that cost
us a point."
Friday night the Bulls were slow
out of the gate and lost 8-3 to
second place Mt. Forest. The
Patriots went ahead 4-1 and while
the Bulls stormed the Mt. Forest
net in the second period, out-
shooting their opponents 15 -7 it
was 5-2 after 40 minutes. The Bulls
had to open it up in the third period
but their strategy backfired as
turnovers proved costly with the
Patriots scoring three more times.
The Bulls are off this Friday
night but host Hanover Sunday at
2. The Bulls beat the Barons 4-1 in
their first meeting earlier this
month.
The Crusaders are off until
Friday, Nov. 5 when they travel to
Palmerston. Their next home game
is Sunday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 against
the Tavistock Royals.
The Crusaders have played
excellent hockey to date already
defeating two of the league's elite
teams. Their roster is filled with
many names familiar to Brussels
hockey fans.
