Morris reviews Pay Equity information The catering staff of BMG com- munity centre has a new assistant. Councillor Wayne Riley advised council at its Oct. 5 meeting that the new dishwasher should arrive by Oct. 15. The fundraising campaign has raised $21,000 to date and the ice surfacing machine has been ordered, he says. Council received information concerning pay equity. Municipali- ties must now act under the Proxy Method. If a female employee did not have someone to be compared with under the previous method, a male in the same job sector must now be used for comparison. This pay equity method must be in place by Jan. 1. CN Rail sent information to council regarding the township's offer to purchase the CN Rail line from Lot 14, Conc. 1 to Brussels town limits. The offer has been accepted and the paper work is being completed for the sale. Taxpayers in Morris Twp. will not be charged for the disposal of Need seeds at the waste disposal site. All council members agreed to attend the Oct. 21 meeting in the Belgrave WI Hall to discuss the future of libraries in Huron County. A rezoning application by Bruce and Michelle Blake of Lot 26, Conc. 7 was approved by council, pending the 20 day appeal period. The request will reduce the lot frontage from 10 meters to 6.7 meters, all existing buildings on the property will be recognized as legal non-complying structures and the housing of livestock will be prohib- ited. Council approved the issuing of the following building permits: Uli Ryter, Lot 25, Conc. 5, hay and beef barn and a separate permit for an implement shed: John Eleman, Lot 1, Conc. 3, open veranda on front and south side of residence and Howson and Howson, Lot 5 Conc. 10, warehouse, feedmill and office. Chief Building Official Paul Josling reviewed with council the proposed revision to the building permit fees. In a comparison of one permit, the proposed method was less than the present system. No decision was made at this The board of directors and staff of the Wingham and Area Seniors Day Centre have been involved in developing a strategic plan with the assistance of Mary Shamley, a consultant from London. The process for developing the plan began last January and will be completed by December. The public including consumers, caregivers, volunteers, interested citizens and other service providers are invited to give feedback on the plan at a consultation meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 20, 7 p.m. at the Seniors Day Centre, 350 Josephine St., Wingham. Henny Uyl, a member of the board of directors, says she hopes there are a lot of people at the meeting. "We need input from as many as possible, so that we can develop the best possible plan," she said. The Draft Plan includes the vision for a centre where indivi- duals can relax, have fun, learn and enjoy a sense of belonging in a warm and supportive atmosphere and where their needs are identified in order to plan programs that will maintain and promote independent living and community involvement. The mission is to provide a progressive individual as a valued member of the community by supporting independent living for older adults and adults with special needs living in North Huron and time. Road Superintendent Lloyd Michie reported to council that the MNR had not approved the way side gravel pit permit for the Ken Shortreed pit. All the crushed grav- el had to be taken from the Stute pit. The grader has been repaired, he says, and the grading of the crushed South Bruce Counties. The centre believes in an atmosphere that promotes wellness, /offers flexibility and freedom of choice, a supportive environment that encourages independence through development of individual abilities and self-esteem, a team approach that demonstrates trust, open communication and respects confidentiality, a co-operative working relationship with the community and the provision of information and education on available community resources. Their goals are to provide recreation programs that include social, physical, cultural, educations, spiritual, intellectual and spectator program; to develop support programs for caregivers; to work co-operatively and network with other community agencies and associations; to identify client needs and make referrals to appropriate agencies in the gravel should be completed in the next week.
