Some outstanding goaltending by
16-year-old Scott Walls, combined
with some solid two way play lifted
the Brussels Bulls to their second
win of the young Western Junior C
Season. The Bulls travelled to
Walkerton Sunday and came home
with a 4-0 victory.
Nate Bender opened the scoring
in the first minute of play snapping
a shot by a surprised Walkerton
goaltender. Defenceman Zack
Smith made it 2-0 midway through
the opening period blasting a low
shot from the blue line. Bender
picked up his second point of the
afternoon when he slid a nice pass
to winger Peter Mulder who fought
off a check and beat the Hawks'
goalie making it 3-0. Brian Zabel
rounded out the scoring a minute
later.
In the third period, Bulls' goalie
Scott Walls made several saves to
preserve the shutout. Walls has
only allowed one goal in his last
two games.
Saturday night the Bulls jumped
out to a 4-1 first period lead against
the first place Wingham Ironmen
but a rash of bad penalties in the
second period proved to be costly.
The Ironmen roared back to claim a
5-4 victory. Jason Baier scored two
goals for Brussels while Bender
five games before picking up their
first win. Western Junior C
followers figure it must be 10 years
since the Barons went that long
without a win.

and Greg Fritz added singles. The
Bulls may have lost defenceman
Mike Hurst for seven games for

the penalty box. The team will
likely appeal the suspension after
