Auxiliary notes
Members of the auxiliary to

part of their September meeting.
Bill Woodley, director of nursing
and Nancy Brown, supervisor at the
lab department conducted the tour.
Members were shown where
operations are performed and
services such as physiotherapy,
occupational therapy and speech
pathology are carried out. Along
with the X-ray, lab and pharmacy
departments all the departments
which contribute to patient care,
from supplying clean bed linen to
dietary needs, were covered.

Three workshops were held.

Outstanding food, great
entertainment, dazzling company,
and your own piece of original
Canadian art work!
That's what you will get when
you attend 3 x 3 in '93 - miniature
art draw and auction to be held at
Blyth Memorial Hall and the
Bainton Gallery on Nov. 6.
Volunteers co-ordinator Marian
Doucette, believes the fund raising
event is a first for this area and
perhaps for the province. "I got the
idea for the project from another
volunteer board member at a
national theatre conference in
Edmonton six years ago. It
sounded like the perfect fund raiser
for the Festival, especially with our
wonderful gallery space and long
history of involvement with visual
art and I just waited for the right
time to try it."
With the Festival approaching its
20th Anniversary in 1993-'94 the
event will start off a year of
celebrations for the theatre. Over
115 pieces of 3" x 3" miniature art
have been donated by artists from
across the province and beyond.
"I can't tell you how exciting it
has been for our committee and
staff as each piece has arrived here
at the office" said Development
Co-ordinator, Lynda Lentz. "Many
artists were particularly pleased
that their art work would be on
exhibition in th Bainton Gallery for
the two weeks preceding the art
draw."
The miniatures represent a broad
range of media, from an exquisite
porcelain vase to a delicate paper
and wire web to an intriguing mix
of photography and water colour
and a miniature native wood
carving. While some artists
represented in the exhibition live as
far away as Edmonton and
Vancouver Island, they are
primarily from this region of
Ontario. Many artists expressed
their delight at being asked to
donate a piece of work to the event
and congratulated the committee on
the unique idea.
"There are equal elements of
mystery and excitement around the
event," Ms Doucette said.
"Everyone's very curious to see The
Blyth Angel by Robert Carmichael,
creator of the loon on the back of
our 'loonies.' And I think people
will be intrigued to see what artists
like Margaret Atwood and James
Reaney have submitted because we
tend to associate them primarily
with their writing."
The real excitement will come on
the evening of Nov. 6 when ticket
holders will get to choose their own
piece of original artwork as their
name is drawn from the hat. To
ease the suspense, the gala event
will also feature complimentary
gourmet delights from a number of
the Festival's outstanding volunteer
cooks, accompanied by wine from
the Pelee Island Vineyards.
Interesting background music for
the evening will be provided by the
The Bartlett Duo, violin and cello
performers from Fergus.
Even if you are in Halifax or Fiji
you can still have your choice
when your name is drawn.
Organizers of 3 x 3 in '93 are
including a proxy page in the
exhibition catalogue that will be
available to every ticket buyer.
Your choices will be honoured by
the designated proxy holder at the
event.
3 x 3 in '93 promises to be an
exciting evening with many
surprises. a single ticket for the
event, including original artwork
and refreshments, is $93. One
additional guest ticket for $7 allows
the person to enjoy the evening's
refreshments and entertainment but
does not make them eligible for
the art draw.
The exhibition will open at 7
p.m., with the draw beginning at 8
p.m. Tickets may be ordered
through the Festival Box Office at
523-9300 during business hours,
