Blyth United celebrates communion
In the obituary for Ray Huether
in last week's issue of The Citizen
the names of the pallbearers were
inadvertantly omitted.
We apologize to them and to the
family of Mr. Huether for this
error.
RAY HUETHER
Ray Huether of Seaforth,
formerly of Walton, passed away
on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1993, at
Victoria Hospital, London in his
61st year.
He was the beloved husband of
the former Margery Webster and
the loving father of Steven and his
wife Kathy and John and his friend
Karen Knight. He was the dear
grandfather of Matthew. Mr.
Huether is survived as well by two
sisters, Mrs. Alice Searle of Walton
and Mrs. Mary Saunders of Royal
Oak, Michigan. He was prede-
ceased by two brothers, Harold and
Ronnie.
Funeral services were held at
2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24 from the
Betts Funeral Home, Brussels.
Interment was at Brussels
Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Allan
McCall, Herb Traviss, Jack Bryans,
Bill Coutts, Ian Wilbee, Gordon
Coleman and Hartley Fischer.
Pallbearers were: Murray Huether,
Howard Hackwell, Ken McDonald,
Ron Bennett, Gerald Watson and
Ross McCall. Flower bearers were
Joe Steffler, Frank Burke, Barry
Saunders and Len Saunders.
Organist at the service was Elva
Wilbee and soloist was Don Mc-
Donald. Rev. Randy Banks of
Duff's United Church, Walton,
officiated at the service.
Donations made to Duffs United
Church, Royal Canadian Legion,
Brussels, Heart and Stroke
Foundation of Ontario, Walton
Area Sports Club or a charity of
your choice would be appreciated.
Greeters at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, Oct. 3 were Donald and
Linda Stewart. Ushers were
Catherine Caldwell, Joan, Shawn
and Ross Clark. Laurie Sparling
was in charge of the Nursery and
Pat Bernard was in charge of Junior
Congregation.
Rev. Tolmay opened the service
with "Call to Worship" followed by
hymn "Come Let Us All Unite and
Sing". Prayer of Approach and
Confession were repeated in
unison. These were followed by the
Decologue.
During children's time Rev.
Tolmay explained the meaning of
Communion; gathering together to
share.
The anthem by the choir "Great
is Thy Faithfulness" was accom-
panied by Phyllis Boak, director of
music.
Scriptures were read from
Matthew 21: 33-46, Philippians 3:
4-16. The hymn was "Make Thou
My Life."
Rev. Tolmay's sermon was "The
Upward Call". We all come from
different backgrounds, have
different standards, yet all of us
have something to offer, he said.
All of us have gifts of God to offer
to each other.
What do you do when things start
getting in the way, Rev. Tolmay
asked? There is only one way to be
acceptable through the righteous-
ness that comes from God and is
based on faith. God comes to those
who are lost and brings them closer
to Him.
The communion hymn preceded
the institution of the Lord's Supper,
served by Lorna Fraser, Bill
Burkholder, Bev Snell, Bonnie
Shannon, Herb Shannon, Vera
Hesselwood, Dorothy Scott, Linda
Wilson and Lance Bearss.
The floral arrangements were in
memory of Mrs. Violet (Addison)
Bean by her daughter, Irma and
husband Jim Mason. Sympathy is
extended to the family.
Tyro is Wednesday at the church
at 10 a.m. every Wednesday.
On Oct. 6 at 8:15 p.m. Blyth
UCW is invited to Brussels UCW.

sion for those less fortunate than
