The Brussels Bulls first clash of
the Western Junior C schedule with
the Hanover Barons had to be
postponed Sunday, because the ice,
which had only been put in a few
days earlier, was not quite ready for
a full 60 minute game. Team
officials were concerned about the
safety of players after several holes
the size of frisbees developed. The
game has yet to be rescheduled.
The Bulls opened Friday night in
Wingham losing 7 - 3 to a veteran
Ironmen team. With 15 players
back from last year's squad many
are picking Wingham to be the
team to beat this season. Brussels
opened the scoring on the power
play when Rookie Bill Henry fired
a point shot past goalie Steve
Schwartzentruber less than three
minutes into the game. But the
Ironmen came back with three
goals of their own in the first,
including two powerplay markers,
to take a 3-1 lead.
The wheels fell off for the Bulls
in the second period when Brussels
gave up two shorthanded goals.
The Bulls Josh Alexander and Greg
McNevan both found the net to
make it 6 - 3 after two periods.
Wingham scored the only goal of
the third to make the final score
Wingham 7, Brussels 3.
Bulls Coach Scott Pettigrew was
optimistic despite the loss. "Our
young players were nervous but I
thought we held our own five on
five," said Pettigrew. "We made
Walk-a-Thon a
local success
A Blyth area woman had great
success at the Walk-a-Dog-a-Thon
held in Goderich on Oct. 3.
June and Ron Foran walked the
10 km to raise money for Canine
Vision Canada.
She says, "There were less partic-
ipants than last year and I would
like to see more people from the
Blyth area get involved."
The Blyth area raised $1,556.75
which well exceeded Mrs. Foran's
hopes. The money raised wil be
credited to the Blyth Lions Club as
a donation to Canine Vision.
We made applesauce and tasted
apple cider, apple butter, McIntosh
apples, Granny Smith, Lobo and
red Delicious apples. Everything
was yummy.

Brussels will be busy this
weekend. The Bulls travel to
Durham Friday night to take on Mt.
addition.
Devin Blake brought a copy of
the Brussels newspaper. Trisha
Mcclure added three 1993 pennies
and Geoffrey Banks brought a seed
pod from an Angel Trumpet plant.
all of these things were put in a
plastic bag and Larry Bremner, the
carpenter dropped it behind the
brick wall.
Forest. Saturday night the Bulls
return home to host the Walkerton
Blackhawks and then Sunday is off
to Hanover for an afternoon
matchup with the nine time
champions.
John, Ruthie and Hanna Uyl
were greeters at Duff's United
Church, Oct. 3. The ushers for
October are Ken McDonald, Brian
McGavin and Rick Holmes.
Upon entering the church, music
filled the sanctuary as Margery
Huether played piano, Phyllis
Mitchell her violin and Glenda
Carter played the organ.
Sunday being World Wide
Communion the choir sang "Cup
has been Lifted".
The Old Testament reading was
Exodus 20 "The Ten
Commandments" from which Rev.
Banks read again to the children.
Using two flat rocks he asked the
children to pretend the stones were
the clay tablets that the command-
ments were written on. He then
asked the children how many of the
commandments they could
remember.
