RECYCLING STATISTICS
The household recycling program at the Walton Landfill Site
began In October 1988 and in 5 years the following amounts of
household recyclables have been diverted from the landfill site:
Newspaper: 72.13 tons
Glass: 107.92 tons
Metal Cans: 80.65 tons
PET: no weight taken
Based on our current landfilling rates, 5 years of recycling has
saved the equivalent of 6 months of landfill space.
Want to do more? Try composting, as composting reduces
household waste by as much as 30%.
Composters are available at the Municipal Offices for $20.00. Blue
boxes are also available at no charge.

A full load
The Fall Colour Tour held at the Wawanosh Nature Centre on Oct. 3 brought out all ages for
an autumn afternoon activity. Wagon rides and walking tours were available throughout the
afternoon.
UCW attends Fall Rally

their experience at Matheson when
her husband was the minister there
and at a nearby reserve. She was
able to talk to the natives as she
speaks French and was of
assistance to Rev. Montreuil.
Everyone who had the pleasure of
hearing her speech must realize that
every man, woman and child on
this earth, whatever black, white,
red or yellow is God's creation.

A large crowd was present at the
Auburn Missionary Church on
Sunday, Oct. 3 to hear the
Chapelites play "I Don't Know
About Tomorrow". They sang "Just
Think about the Glory in that
Home Beyond the Sky".
Pastor Came continues his series
of messages from Acts 3: 11-20.
Peter and John attracted a crowd.
They responded to a need and the
beggar was healed.

Several members of Auburn
U.C.W. attended the annual Fall
Rally at North Street Church,
Goderich, on Sept. 20.
During the morning was mainly a
business meeting except for a skit
on natives by the Victoria Street
Church and special music by
Holmesville.
After lunch Auburn led the
worship program. Elva Armstrong
gave the topic and Ruth Jardin read
the scripture. The offering was
received and prayer said. Special
afternoon music was by Blyth. Mrs.
Campbell was the soloist
accompanied by Mrs. Boak.
The speaker was Mrs. Micheline
Montreuil, whose husband is the
Rev. Paul conducted the service
for the World Wide Communion
and Baptism service at Knox
United Church. Nancy Park was
organist.
There was a hymn-sing.
Invitation to worship was read
altemateiy and the opening chorus
sung. Rev. Ross gave the Prayers of
Approach and Confession which
were followed by the baptismal
hymn.
The celebrating of the sacrament
of baptism took place. Those being
baptized were Marshall John, son
of Michael and Heather Durnin;
Adam Gerald, son of Pat and Patti
Cronin and John Michael, son of
Dan and Bev Lecomte.
Everyone repeated the Lord's
Prayer and the children's chorus
was sung.
A trio, comprised of Nancy Park,
Penny Hodges and Dianne Park
sang "In The Garden" accompanied
by Bernice Gross.
Rev. Ross' meditation was
"Cornerstones of the Faith". The
communion hymn "Let Us Break
Bread Together" was sung and the
Communion Liturgy was read
alternately. This was followed by
prayer.
The offering was received by

Auburn man
receives serious
injuries
A serious accident occurred on
County Road 14, two km. east of
County Road 12 near Winthrop on
Sept. 22.
A spokesperson for the Goderich
OPP says Shawn Rodger, 19, of
RR 2 Auburn was driving a 1984
Dodge pickup eastbound on Coun-
ty Road. 17.
According to the spokesperson,
the Rodger vehicle crossed into the
westbound lane striking a transport
truck driven by Bruce Siertsema,
22, of RR 3 Blyth.
The pickup truck was destroyed
in the crash and Mr. Rodger was
taken to Stratford General Hospital _
with major injuries.
He was released from hospital
after one week.
Mr. Siertsema received minor
injuries and was not hospitalized.
Charges are pending against
Shawn Rodger, OPP say.
