Grey school hosted the North Huron tournament originally set for Thursday, however inclement weather resulted in it being moved to Friday. Two of the participating schools, Brussels and Howick were unable to attend as they were at the International Plowing Match in Walkerton, so teams from Grey and Wingham filled in. Just a fun competition, there were no winners and each player from the other schools, Turnberry, East Wawanosh, Grey and Wingham received participant ribbons. A. Huronview in Clinton and Huronlea in Brussels, county homes for the aged, will lay-off a total of 27 workers as of Nov. 26. Administrator fof the facilities, Wayne Lester says, "There will be 11 full-time union positions lost at Huronview and 10 at Huronlea." These losses include RNAs, activity workers, domestic aids, tuck shop workers and a cook as well as others. The other six positions "deleted" are two full-time RNs at Huron- view, one engineer at each facility and two non-union management positions. Mr. Lester says, "The amend-. Continued on page 6 Allan Dettweiler of RR4, Brus- sels has announced his intention to run in the federal election under the Libertarian Party banner. Mr. Dettweiler, who previously took a run in the political arena during the last provincial election as the Libertarian candidate filed his nomination papers on Saturday. Mr. Dettweiler says that the party policy is essentially less govern- ment. "We would start with cutting down the size of government, which would eventually lead to cut- ting down taxes, leaving more money in the economy," he says. The Libertarian Party believes that private enterprise stimulates an economy. Though there are many issues in this election, he says the priority concerns seem to be the economy, unemployment and taxa- tion. "They.are related as far as we see it." Though the party opinion to rid the country of subsidy assistance is not popular with all groups, Mr. Dettweiler says it is a party that is offering an option for people. "We don't believe in buying people's votes," he said. Nelda McEwen, an holistic health educator from Turnberry Twp. is the guest speaker. Organizer Donna White says she had been contacted by Ms McEwen regarding the County's Waste Man- agement Public Liaison Commit- tee, of which Ms McEwen wanted to be a member. "After we talked for a while and listening to what she was saying, I thought it would be a good idea to have her come to speak at a meeting. Ms McEwen says she is noting epidemics in today's society that don't fit in with Pasteur's theories of the germ victim. "We need to twiler says.
