Knox presents Bibles to children
It was Sept 11, 1943 when Don-
ald and Lois Haines exchanged
vows at Knox Presbyterian Church
in Guelph. They were attended by
Myrtle Crosbie of Guelph and Rol-
lano Mailhot of Montreal. Rev. J.
C. Greier conducted the ceremony.
Following the wedding Mr.
Haines served for four years with
the Royal Canadian Air Force, then
took up farming on County Road
25 in Colborne Tsp, where they
lived for 22 years before moving to
Auburn. Mr. Haines then worked
for the province as an assessor. He
retired in 1985.

The monthly meeting of the
Auburn Presbyterian WMS was
held at the home of Lillian
Letherland. President Martha Daer
opened the meeting and welcomed
all present.
The Devotional period was taken
by Frances Clark. The Scripture
portion was the reading in unison
of the 23rd Psalm. The Meditation
was on the Psalm; this was
followed by prayer.
Martha Daer had the Study. She
read about "Sour Grapes in God's
Vineyard" and "God's Love for Us"
was also read. Several other
readings followed.
The meeting closed with all
repeating the Lord's Prayer and

speaker
Stanley Tam, a businessman
from Lima, Ohio, was guest
speaker at Auburn Missionary
Church this past weekend.
On Sunday, Sept. 12 his message
was from Matt. 6:19-21. How can
I lay up treasures in heaven? he
asked. Canadian dollars are no
good in heaven. We are merely
trustees of what we have in this
world. When we look at our
circumstances we lose hope but
God shall supply all our needs, not
our wants, he said. All the things
we have in this world will be rust
and dust in 100 years, but if we
accept Christ as our personal
saviour we will have eternal life,
said Mr. Tam.
The music for this weekend was
given by Simon and Cecelia Avidas
from Mexico.

Delta" was sung, after which Rev.
Ross delivered his sermon
"Perfecting the Church".

Ken Ramsey and Greg Park and for
the Sunday School brought forward
by Joel Arthur and Pauline Blok
and dedicated.

Prayer and the Closing hymn was
"In Christ There Is No East or
West".
