Brussels Mennonite Fellowship
Pastor Tom Warner preached from
Mark 10:13-16 on Sunday Sept. 12.
The congregation was celebrating
"Children's Sunday". Pastor Tom
pointed out to enter the kingdom of
God we need to ''be as little
children", meaning we need to have
the faith and trust in God, that
children have in their moms and
dads or caregivers. When we hurt,
we need to turn to God for comfort;
when we are troubled, we need to
turn to God for advice; when we
are unsure, we need to trust and
have faith in God's wisdom.
Dave Goodland read the
children's story, and Robby Fyn
provided special music. Lucy
Hesse and Kathy Procter were in
charge of the congregational
singing.

be working with the Peacemakers

A Turnberry St. homeowner, the
first called before Brussels village
council under a new property stan-
dards by-law, has promised she will
have her property cleaned up by the
end of October.
Mary Gurica told councillors that
she would clean up the outside of
her empty house this fall and
planned to sell the property next
year. "By this time next year I want
to be out of Brussels lock, stock
and barrel." She said she had hoped
to renovate the house but with ill
health she had been unable to carry
through her plan.

Welcome to another year at
Brussels Public School. This year
there are 210 students attending
BPS including 29 grade eights. We
also have 21 new students
attending Kindergarten. They think
school is awesome and they like it
a lot. The new teacher for
Kindergarten is Mrs. Mary Hall.
She is popular with her little
Kindergarten students. We had an
interesting interview with Mrs.
Hall.
"What do you think of Brussels
P.S.?"
She replied, "So far there are no
complaints."

Soup labels.
North Huron Rally will take
place in Fordwich, Oct. 12.
On Sept. 23 the Brussels Ladies
are invited to Belgrave UCW and
to Blyth on Oct. 3.

serving another take-out dinner on
Oct. 3. Tickets are available.

neighbours about the condition of
the property and the racoons run-
ning in and out of the building, had
left them little alternative but to
invoke the powers under the new
bylaw.
Property Standards Officer Paul
Josling explained to Mrs. Gurica
that if she failed to clean up the
property by the end of October, he
could order village employees to
clean up the outside of the building
and charge the costs to her taxes.
A second property owner was
also to appear before council
regarding abandoned cars but
removed the cars before the meet-
ing.
Kindergarten?"
"Yes, I do; Kindergarten is my
favourite class."
"What was it like transferring
from one school to the other?"
She said, "There was a lot of
moving school supplies, and it is
quite different because I knew most
of the people at my other school
and I barely know anyone here at
Brussels."
The students would like to wish a
happy retirement to Mr. Ken Fisher
and thank him for driving the bus
safely for us. We appreciate all the
time he took to drive us to school.
We also welcome Mr. John
Cousins, the new bus driver.
We are thankful for the work and
time the Lions club put in during
the summer to complete the
playground at Brussels Public
School. The staff and students are
looking forward to an exciting
year!
