Huron Pioneer Thresher Reunion 1993
Varied entertainers to perform at Reunion
For the love of it
Music lovers from the area and far and wide travel to the Thresher Reunion
to entertain or listen to the toe tapping jamboree music performed on
several stages during the weekend. There is also a fiddle contest on
Saturday afternoon.
With another year's Threshers' Reunion set
to begin, Gladys Van Egmond and her
committee have been hard at work preparing
the entertainment, she says.
Mrs. Van Egmond is in her eighth year as
co-ordinator of entertainment and she says
could never accomplish the ever growing
amount of work without the help of others.
This year she is assisted by Dave Chittick
of Hanover who organized the events for the
main stage, Bev. Hanson of Pt. Clark took
care of arrangements for Shed 2 and Lois
Hodgins of Crediton looked after Shed 1.
Once again there is a wide variety of
features available throughout the three day
event and all ages should find something of
interest.
Though the reunion doesn't officially
begin until Friday, there are jam sessions
scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday
evening. The campers are invited to meet in
the Auditorium on Wednesday, for an
informal concert. Thursday's jam will be
held in Shed 1.
The Calvin Cloggers of the Blyth-Walton-
Winthrop area will perform at 8:30 p.m.,
Wednesday and entertain those who would
like a game of euchre, in the Auditorium.
A fiddle workshop will he conducted by
Doug McNaughton of Stratford and
participation will he by invitation only.
SpeCtators arc welcome to enjoy the session.
Friday brings a day filled with
entertainment, says Mrs. Van Egmond.
There will be two stages near the
Auditorium featuring local entertainers, from
1 to 5 p.m.
Two of the featured acts will be Jason and
Kelly Ann Dalton from Londesboro. The
brother and sister have participated in
several stepdance competitions and have
earned many prizes, says Mrs. Van Egmond.
At 4:30 p.m. on each of the three weekend
days, a parade review will be held at the
Second Stage.
Friday evening will be filled by a
jamboree and fiddle music upstairs at the
Auditorium. Any overflow in attendance
will be accommodated in the shed.
Saturday events begin at 10 a.m. with
local entertainment on the Main Stage and
followed by the fiddle competition at 1 p.m.
Those taking part in the fiddle contest
come from Western Ontario as well as some
of the eastern provinces and states.
The Second Stage will he the site of the
opening ceremonies at 1 p.m.
Joe Tiffin's Orchestra from Tecswater will
entertain at 2 p.m. They arc well known in
the area, having performed at many dances
and other functions.
Special events for the children will begin
at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. A clown and puppet
show will be featured in the auditorium. It
will also be presented Sunday afternoon.
Throughout the day on Saturday, the
Brussels Pipe Band will be wandering the
grounds to entertain.
Joe Tiffin's Orchestra will provide the
music for the dance to be held from 9 p.m. to
1 a.m. Saturday.
Sunday will begin with a non-
denominational church service at the Main
Stage. Don Vair of Wingham will officiate
the service which will run from 10:30 a.m.
