The opening hymn was No. 461, "Beautiful Saviour". Today this business, Knox United Belgrave and Calvin-Brick churches will receive services by the new minister, Rev. Paul Boughton. The next morning from 9 until noon his emphasis is on soul winning, while that evening he will be giving his is a reasonably new one to the min- istries of Canada, as he is an inten- tional interim minister. He stays at each church for only one year. The practice began approximate- ly 20 years ago as a way of bridg- ing the gap between a minister leaving a parish and the call of a new one. Rev. Boughton says, "This gives the community time to find the right minister for them; someone who fits the needs of the congregation. It is no good finding a minister who only wants to give sermons if the community needs a youth group leader." He says, "There are about 800 intentional interim ministers in North America. Though most are in the United States, the need for the service is growing quickly in Cana- da." 0 bituaries MARILYN OLIVE GAL- BRAITH After battling illness for the past year, Marilyn Olive Galbraith died at her Whitby home on Aug. 29, 1993.
