During the afternoon, they responded to a call at RR2, Auburn on the property of the late Ray Hanna. The front end of a sewage pump truck owned by Franken's ignited in a corn field while the driver was working at the rear of it. Shortly after returning to the village firefighters were out once again to Howson's Mills after the main valve of the sprinkler system opened. After checking the mill they found nothing, firefighter Dave Lee said. Earlier that day they were called on to put out a hydro pole fire. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 1993. After the vacation time the congregation was happy to worship at Knox United Church. Service was conducted by Rev. Paul Ross, Nancy Park was organist. Invitation to Worship was repeated and the opening chorus "0 Holy Spirit" was sung. Rev. Ross gave the Prayer of Approach and Confession. "Jesus Calls Us" was sung. With no children in attendance Rev. Ross called for two volunteers to come to the front. Ruth Jaroin and Doug McClinchey went. Using golf balls and money, they demonstrated generosity and equality. Rev. Ross stated that God treats us all the same in life. This was followed by the Lord's Prayer repeated in unison and the singing of "Jesus Bids Us Shine". Rev. Ross read scripture from St. Matthew. "When Israel was in Egypt's Land" was sung. Summer visitors with Ruth and Tom Jardin were Mr. and Mrs. Harry McArthur of Peterborough and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Darling of Clarksburg. Clark hosts WMS The regular meeting of the Auburn Presbyterian W.M.S. was held at the home of Frances Clark. President Martha Daer opened the meeting with a hymn, then welcomed all present. The devotional period was taken by Marion Haggitt. The scripture portion was from St. Matthew the seventh chapter, one to 15. The meditation was "Why Jesus Suffered". The study was taken by Lillian Letherland and entitled "When a Door Closes". Several readings were given by Frances Clark and Martha Daer. Business was conducted as usual. The meeting closed with all repeating the "Lord's Prayer". The next meeting will be at Lillian Letherl and's home. He also gave Pastoral Prayers. The offering was received by Marinus Bakker and Don Haines and dedicated in song. "They'll Know we arc Christians" was sung. Rev. Ross pronounced the Benediction and the Chorus "To God In Heaven" was sung. The singing of Amens closed the service. Sunday, Sept. 12 will be Rally Sunday and the children will be back again. I
