Community development
initiatives that will be supported
under this program must be
participatory in nature and involve
partnerships within various sectors
of the community. Initiatives must
be developed from some sort of
community plan or vision through a
priority setting exercise, and must
be community „ driven and
supported by a commitment of
community resources.

Myrle Bowes wins at euchre pops!
There were nine tables of euchre
in play at the Ethel Hall, Monday
evening.
The 50/50 winner was Myrle
Bowes. Other winners were: high
lady, Marjory McCourt, high men,
Elmer Best and Mac Smith, low
lady, Betty Krotz, low man, George
Salverdo, most lone hands, Hilda
Grey Township Council held its
regular meeting on Aug. 9 and
accepted the tender of Champion
Road Machinery (Frink) for a two-
way dump body, sander and
snowplow equipment. The
Champion tender, amounting to
$43,412.50 was the lowest of three
received. This brings the total cost
of the township's new tandem
dump truck to $127,940 which is
being partially offset by a
supplementary grant of $50,000
from the Ministry of
Transportation.

Council passed a bylaw to
authorize a fire agreement with the
townships of Elma and Logan to
cover any occasional fire coverage
piovided by the Elma-Logan
(Monkton) fire department into
Grey Township.
In other business, council
approved payment for general
accounts totalling $71,521.93, road
accounts totalling $102,076.64 and
drain accounts totalling $1,189.24.
The next regular meeting of
Council is scheduled for Aug. 30 at
7 p.m.
at 8:30 p.m.

Grey council accepts tender
A humorous advertisement for farm safety is on display on a McKillop Township farm east of
Londesboro. Luckily the person imprisoned in this large bale of straw is made of sticks and
drainage pipe so no serious damage was done.
