PAGE 19. Landfill fee set for W. Wawanosh By Jason and Ashley Gropp The Blyth Young Company wrapped up another season with- Look Away— the Dragon is Dying on the Ground performed several times this past week at The Arch. While contemplating possible approaches to a review we encoun- tered mixed feelings. While on the one hand we could appreciate the work and creativity of the show and its young performers, we felt the show was confusing to its audience. There were some very notable factors which created a positive image to the play, the strong acting being one. With the play moving constantly from one site to another the actors were challenged. They concentrated very heavily on the roles, which was very noticeable because of their close proximity to the audience. Characters were often frequently seen running right through the crowd. The time of each segment was precise and the flow consistent. The natural setting was used effectively as well. Within a small space, grasslands, rivers, forests and deserts were created with little test to the imagination. Due to the abstract nature of the play, however, it was frequently chaotic and at times even unpleas- ant. On more than one occasion, numerous voices were speaking at very close range making it difficult for the audience to concentrate on or discover what the real meaning of the play was. We felt that the attempts to send a meaningful message about world destruction were lost by someone's desire to create something unique. After all, there are many good plays, which convey strong mes- sages through simple ways. This Young Company had within it some very talented young actors. In Look Away their abilities were tested. Unfortunately that excel- lence may have been lost in what most would observe as confusion. The Young Company's purpose FORTHCOMING MARRIAGE Ken and Anne Williamson and Leona Boyle are pleased to announce the marriage of their children, Cathy and Harry. The wedding will take place at St Ambrose Church, Brussels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 1993. Open reception to follow 8:30 p.m. at B.M. & G. Community Centre, Brussels. Engagement Howard and Doreen Holtzmann of Exeter, Ontario are pleased to announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter Heather, to Kevin, son of Mel and Lols McArter, Brussels, Ontario. The wedding will take place in Exeter United Church on Saturday, August 21st, with an open reception to follow at 9 p.m. at South Huron Rec. Centre. The residents of West Wawanosh landfill will be subject to a "user fee" beginning Oct. 1. Council approved the charges at the Aug. 3 meeting. Tags which indicate the fees are paid, may be purchased from at the township office. Rates will be $1 per bag and $5 per pick-up truck for refuse put in the burying trench. It was also agreed by council that only owners of land in West Wawanosh Twp. would be allowed to use the landfill site. The tender presented by Lavis Contracting Co. Limited, for the supplying and placing of asphalt on Auburn streets in West Wawanosh was accepted by council. The cost of the asphalt will be $41.45 per ton plus they will build approximately 270 linear meters of asphalt gutters. A severance application was approved by council for Lot 14, Conc. 8. The landowners, John and Catherine Stevens, intend to sever 100 acres from the existing 166 acre lot. They must meet the provi- sions of the secondary plan for West Wawanosh which entails establishing a line between the sev- ered and the retained portion. is to foster and promote the abilities of the actors. It is unfortunate therefore that their abilities were overwhelmed by a creative need to promote the individuality of the play itself. Because of the production's good aspects the audience should have left knowing that something posi- tive had been achieved. It's just too bad that they may not be sure what.
