IN
MEMORIAM
MURPHY. In loving memory of a
dear husband, father and grand-
father, James, who passed away
August 18, 1990.
God saw you getting tired, when a
cure was not to be,
So He closed His arms around you
and whispered "come to me".
You didn't deserve what you went
through
And so He gave you rest,
God's garden must be beautiful
For He only takes the best.
— Sadly, lovingly and always
remembered by wife Anne, son Jim
and family, also missed by his
father, brother John and Tom and
families, mother-in-law Nannie.

Mosquitoes
lose 8-1
Listowel Mosquitoes easily
defeated Brussels soccer team 8-1
on Aug. 11. Listowel opened the
scoring, then Brussels' Jillian
Houston was able to tie the game.
She broke through the Listowel
defences and with a solid kick beat
the Listowel goalie. This put
Brussels back in the game and the
first half ended with Listowel
leading 2-1.
In the second half the more
aggressive Listowel team was able
to take advantage of Brussels
inability to get the ball out of their
end. Listowel was able to capitalize
on their many scoring chances and
dominated the game. Six different
Listowel players scored on
Brussels' goalie Kevin Mutter.
On a few occasions Brussels'
forward Terry Nichol was able to
carry the ball into Listowel territory
but the rest of the team couldn't
sustain the drive. The game ended
8-1 for Listowel.
The last league game is at
Drayton on Wednesday, Aug 18
and the tournament is on Saturday,
Aug. 21 at Newry. Brussels' first
game is at 9 a.m.

Chalet teams. With a loss to the
Winthrop Titans, they competed in
the "B" Division play-offs.
The first round of playoffs

Dublin Devils in a very close game.
They squeaked out a win with the
help of Brian Deitner who made a
game saving catch in the seventh
inning with the bases loaded. the
final score was 11-9.
The Optimists came up against
the home town team in the finals.
By the end of the fifth they were
down 4-3. They came back with
four runs in the sixth and were able
to hold the lead with good defen-
sive plays.
Throughout the tournament the
Brussels Optimists combined for
20 homeruns.
