The congregation of St. Ambrose
Roman Catholic Church filled the
pews for the first service in the new
structure Aug. 1.
The original building on Fish-
liegh St., in Brussels was torn
down in early spring of this year.
Catherine Terpstra, whose hus-
band Charles was on the building
committee says the official opening

United Church in Clinton. The program was also presented at Huronview in Clinton.
Dr. Van Dorp leads worship
On Sunday, Aug. 8 the
congregation of the Blyth Christian
Reformed Church welcomed Dr.
John Van Dorp from Wiarton, to
lead the worship services.
The call to worship was taken
from Psalm 95. Dr. Van Dorp used
Psalm 51 as confession of sins and
assurance of pardon.
The scripture passage for the
message was taken from James 1:
19-27, Matthew 7: 21-29, and the
text was taken from Romans 2:13.
The sermon was entitled,
,"Christian Conduct Doing The
Work" Dr. Van Dorp used a visual
aid at the start of his message. He
had a stethoscope and a bee
smoker. Being a physician, he
'explained how he uses his
stethoscope to hear a person's
breath, but if he put his stethoscope
to the bee smoker while gently
pumping it, the sound of the air in
the baffles sounded much the same

Mennonite
Fellowship
On Sunday, Aug. 8, *lark
Hallman, pastor at Glen Allen
Mennonite Church, gave the
message at Brussels Mennonite
Fellowship. He preached from
Matthew 20, on the topic of rights.
We really have no right to live as
affluently as we do. All that we
have is because of God's mercy, he
said. God has called all Christians
to do the work of God. We do not
have the right to remain silent since
God has called each of us to use
our gifts to minister God's Word.
Pastor Hallman said, "The only
right we have is the right to accept
salvation provided to us because of
God's mercy."
Bev Brown was worship leader
for the Sunday service and Lena
Seigers was song leader with
Nancy Elliot-Greenwood providing
the accompaniment.
Following the service, the
congregation and guests enjoyed a
pot luck meal and fellowship in the
gymnasium.
as a human breathing. He used this
as an example to bring across the
fact that it takes more than breath
to have life. It is absolutely
essential to have breath, but just
because there is air moving in and
out does not mean there is life, he
said.
In the life of a Christian there
must be faith, but faith without
good works is dead. Once we are
saved by the grace of God, it is
impossible not to do good works.
There are many examples in the
Bible where a person or a nation
knew the word of God but did not
act accordingly.
Dr. Van Dorp said we do not
grow as Christians by hearing the
word only, we must also be doers.
Perversity of those claiming to be
Christians has done so much
damage. A prime example of this
would be children who have been
