Randy and Patty Banks and family have recently returned from a two-week holiday. They spent quite a few days on the road heading for MacGregor, Manitoba by detouring to North and South Dakota. In the fall of 1945-47 Doug travelled by train to this Swedish town where he helped with the harvest. While there he stayed with Ruby and Alvin Bergstrom. They have kept in touch all these years and this is where they Frasers spent their holiday. If anyone would like to share their holiday happenings please call hosted a McDonald and Newman Family Reunion on Aug. 1 at their home. It's up and away Randy Boyer, pitcher for the Morris Twp. 8th Liner's tosses the ball during the men's recreational slo-pitch tournament held in Blyth from Aug. 5 to 8. Duff's anniversary set Rev. Randy Banks greeted people at the door of Duff's United, Aug. 8. It was announced that Duff's anniversary service will be held Sept. 19, with Rev. Charles Swan as guest speaker. Also there will be a church service next Sunday, Aug. 15 and then none for the following two weeks. Rev. Banks then passed on the happy news that twin boys were born on Aug. 5 to Tara and Carl McCallum. It was biblical quiz time once again. There were eight questions with a possible 15 answers to choose from. Scripture readings were from Genesis 37, Joseph's dreams, and Matthew 14, Jesus walking on water. The sermon was called "Don't you just love a storm?" Rev. Banks noted that Joseph's `coat of many colours' is actually translated in Hebrew as a coat with long sleeves. He talked about storms as a metaphor for illness, grief, family breakups, etc. There is never a storm free life, but storms do end and there is a calmness between storms. We need to appreciate this calm, he said. Often it is during the storms in our lives that we are most likely to encounter God. But rest assured that God is with us before a storm, in the storm and in the calm after a storm, Rev. Banks said. Guests this morning at church were Adeline Weber from Kitchener, sister to Malinda Johnston. Mary McCall from Seaforth, who attended Duff's for 35 years while living in the Walton area and Cheryl and Glen Mader from Windsor, daughter and son- in-law of Doug and Marjory Fraser.
