The congregation of Blyth Christian Reformed Church was welcomed by two elders, Mr. Martin Wilts and Mr. Mery Datema as greeters on Sunday, August 1. "Come To The Savior Now", was the opening hymn to the Communion Sunday. Rev. Los of Listowel CRC lead the morning service with Robert Datema leading the evening worship service. The scripture chosen for the morning service was from Philippians 4, verses 10-20. Rev. Los outlined the fact that in "Phillipi", in New Testament times, there was the birth of a new church congregation, there was spiritual development, and also suffering Three Western Ontario women are one step closer to the chance to be the first Ontario Dairy Educator following a regional selection process here last weekend. Grey County Dairy Princess Erika Dickert, Middlesex Dairy Princess Judy Strybosch and Waterloo Dairy Princess Karen Howling advanced through the first Regional held at the Woodstock Quality Inn on July 17 and will compete in the Toronto selection process on Wednesday, Aug. 25. One other regional selection day will be held and nine final applicants will vie for the new position in Toronto on Aug. 25. Other applicants in the Western Regional were Dairy Princesses from Brandt, Sandi Enunott; Elgin, Vicki Paget; Huron, Amy Terpstra; Starting this week, LCBO stores throughout Ontario will introduce new single-bottle bags promoting the Safe and Sober Summer Tips from the Ontario Community Council on Impaired Driving (OCCID). Part of OCCID's third annual Arrive Alive/Drive Sober campaign, the tips are: designate a driver, take a cab, call home, be a responsible host, and plan ahead. More than 600,000 bags with this advice have been produced by the LCBO for use in its stores throughout the summer. The introduction of the bags at this time is designed to emphasize the importance of responsible drinking during the busy holiday period, the time when road accidents are at their highest. "For many years, the LCBO has been successful in promoting responsible consumption through the 'Don't Drink and Drive' message on its bags, "LCBO Chair and CEO Andy Brandt said. "This initiative is an extension of that message." To drive home the message that drinking and driving do not mix, several vehicles were parked outside of the Queen's Quay LCBO Store in downtown Toronto for the official introduction of the Safe and Sober Summer bags. Included were a Metro Toronto Police R.I.D.E. van, an ambulance, a taxicab, and a car wreck from an impaired driving accident. For the bag launch, LCBO Queen's Quay store staff wore T- shirts which featured a taxi illustration with the message, "When it's your night out...this is the shape you should be in." These shirts and others carrying the slogan, "You don't have to fill it up and persecution. As a result the apostle Paul wrote the letter of "Philippian", a source of encouragement, joy, and a letter of response to the Philippian people for what they had done for Paul. Rev. Los stated, "a little bit of encouragement will go a long way, and that we all need words of encouragement such as are found in the Book of "Philippians". Life's road is not always smooth and as Christians offering sincere gestures of kindness or care can really provide a fellow human being with a source of encouragement." First and foremost, however, we need to trust in God to supply all our needs as the text Phil. 4 vs. 19 Norfolk, Michelle Moore; Oxford, Monica Wiffen; Bruce, Christine Goodhue; Haldimand, Jill Bousfield; Niagara South, Brenda Green; and Perth, Julie French. The 1993-94 Ontario Dairy Educator will conduct public relations activities on behalf of Ontario's dairy farmers during a twelve month term. To become Ontario Dairy Educator, an applicant is selected on public speaking ability, knowledge of the dairy industry, maturity, enthusiasm and sincerity. The winner's prizes include a Bulova watch, an educational bursary, a Joico haircare system and a leather briefcase. Two of the three Regional selection days were held in Eastern to live it up" are available from selected LCBO stores. "The LCBO has always been a responsible retailer of beverage alcohol," said Anne Leonard, Chair of the Arrive Alive/Drive Sober campaign. "I can think of no better way to remind consumers of the risks of impaired driving than through provincial liquor stores." The LCBO continues to promote the "Don't Drink and Drive" message on its other paper bags, while also encouraging its customers to purchase reusable cotton LCBO "Enviro" bags. Promoting moderation is a key objection for the LCBO. Under its Challenge and Refusal Program, store staff are trained to identify and deal with customers who appear to be intoxicated or under the legal drinking age. Last year more than 190,000 people were asked for proof of age under the program. Of those, 41,000 were refused service because they lacked valid identification. Another 16,000 individuals who were determined to be intoxicated were also refused service. OCCID was formed in early 1990, the year of the first Arrive Alive/Drive Sober Week. Council members represent close to 40 local, regional and provincial groups who work with the Ministry of the Attorney General to educate the public about the dangers of driving after drinking. Learning French makes a world of difference states. This does not mean our every whim will be supplied but that we must place our trust in God to provide what is best for us. Rev. Los reflected on the fact that the apostle Paul had endured many hardships and persecutions in his life, yet he remained happy and content. He trusted God. He had an inner peace no matter what. The congregation celebrated the message of Joy and Grace by joining in Holy Communion. Next Sunday the congregation welcomes Dr. John Van Dorp as guest speaker for both services. The evening service will be held out-of- doors at 7:30 p.m. at the Blyth Lions Park. and Western Ontario on July 10 and 17. The third selection will take place at Orangeville Hockley Valley Resort on July 31. The first Ontario Dairy Educator will be selected on Aug. 25 at 8;30 p.m. at the Lionshead Golf and Country Club in Brampton. bituaries ALICE M. JEFFERIES Alice M.
