NFU splits
with province
The Region 3 (Ontario) National
Farmers Union (NFU) will ask for
an amendment to Bill 42 which
will remove Region 3 from the pro-
posed legislation regarding stable
funding.
The motion was approved at the
annual convention held in Alliston
on July 27, 1993.
Bill 42 is the Farm Registration
and Farm Organization Act. It
received second reading in the
Ontario Legislature on June 21,
1993 and has been sent to the
Resources Committee for further
study.
A press release stated that the
motion was agreed upon by Region
3 NFU because:
-there is no provision for a
farmer vote on the issue of stable
funding
-there has not been adequate con-
sultation with the farm community
