Things got underway on the first evening of FunFest. The Branch held a pub night that had a full house. The "Rockets" ball team had a mini reunion in the lounge and were able to be reacquainted with many distant friends. Mennonites host musical evening On Sunday, July 25 at Brussels Mennonite Fellowship, Pastor Tom Warner preached on "Working up a Sweat" in relation to the power of prayer. Ephesians 6: 18-19 and Colossians 4: 2-4 were used as the scripture reading. Sincere prayer comes as a result of being filled with the Holy Spirit, he said. It takes work to pray sincerely. It is not something that On Sunday, July 11 the Legion sponsored the Maitland Valley barn dance at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. People from across Ontario, and many friends from the southern states enjoyed an afternoon of toe tapping, foot stomping fiddle music. Special thanks to Lloyd and Helen Warwick for all the hard work they put into the success of can be done half-heartedly. Being lukewarm in Christ is like being cast out. Mervin Lichty led the singing with Nancy Elliot-Greenwood as pianist. Next Sunday the church service will be one of music. Sunday evening, Aug. 1 the group, Gospel Echoes, will hold an outside service at 7 p.m. on the church lawn. The large group of children is split into age groups and led through various games by the 20 youth and adult leaders. Ms Martin says this yeas's theme is Simon Peter, Fisherman to Fol- lower. Eleven teams were entered for the day-long tournament. The Brussels squad started the morning off well with an enjoyable game against Ripley winning 35-2 in five innings. The second game wasn't as easy but the team held together to put Mitchell out of the tournament. The fmal score was 7- 5 for the Brussels squad. This advanced the team to the Zone "A" final. This again was a very exciting game. Brussels allowed all eight runs in the first two innings and were able to shut the Clinton Legion team down for the remainder of the game. However, the Brussels bats couldn't get started and were only able to score one run against the tight Clinton defence. Gary Pipe was the offensive player for Brussels, connecting for four home runs (when they were really needed) for the day. Sue Legion ball team loses 'A' final
