Rev. Paul Ross conducted the
service at Knox United Church
with Nancy Park as organist.
The opening Chorus, "0 Holy
Spirit", was sung.
Rev. Ross gave the prayers of
approach and confession which
were followed by the hymn "Tell
Me The Old Old Story".
The congregation then sang
"Jesus Loves The Little Children".
Rev. Ross read the Scriptures
The July meeting of the Auburn
Presbyterian W.M.S. was held at
the home of Mrs. Dawson Craig
with five members and six visitors
present.
President Martha Daer welcomed
all and led the devotional. Frances
Clark had the study and Carol Daer
read several readings.
The minutes of the last meeting

Bernice Anderson spent Thursday
with Peter and Marilyn Verbeek on
their boat Tira-a-Lyn at
Waubaushene, Ont.
Congratulations to Tom and Ruth
Jardin who recently celebrated their
55th wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Brian Craig and
family of St. Jacobs spent the
week-end at their trailer, R.R. 3,

Sunday, July 18 at Auburn
Missionary Church.
Pastor Carne's message was
"Destined to Die," with scriptures
from Luke 16:19-31 and Hebrews

Auburn.
Mrs. Tom Haggitt accompanied
by Mrs. Ken Haggitt and her
mother, Mrs. Dorothy Skinulis,
visited with relatives in
Leamington. The next day they
took a very enjoyable boat trip to
Pelee Island where they toured the
island. They spent the night at a
Bed and Breakfast and returned the
next day.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jardin
celebrated their 55th wedding
anniversary on May 24.
Ruth Straughan, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William Straughan of
East Wawanosh Township, and
Thomas Jardin, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Jardin were united in
marriage at Auburn United Church
on May 24, 1938.
Rev. Hugh Wilson officiated.
The attendants were Annie
Straughan and Norman Rodger.
The Jardins were involved in
farming and ran a grocery store.
• Blyth Council decided at its
regular meeting, July 19 to hold a
meeting Monday, July 26 to find a
way to deal with the constraints of
the social contract. Council must
reduce their budget by over
$10,000 with most of the monies to
come from payroll.

Blyth Clerk-Treasurer Helen
Grubb will be attending a
municipal finance officers
workshop in London, from Sept. 22
to 24. The seminar will help
upgrade skills and solve problems
that are faced by municipalities,
says Ms Grubb.

Blyth council has received a
request to rent a campground site
with a 20 per cent discount, if taken
for a month.
Councillor Mason Bailey raised
the question as to whether this
would create unfair competition for
the commercial campgrounds in the
area.
Memorial service
at Ball's Cemetery
Pastor James Carne was the
speaker for Ball's Cemetery
memorial service held on Sunday,
July 4. Organist was Eric
Campbell. Several hymns, prayers
and scriptures were given.
Pastor Carne's message was
entitled "A Rich Inheritance".

Mr. Jardin retired from Investors
Syndicate of Canada in 1974, after
20 years as a salesman.
They lived in several
communities in Huron County
including East Wawanosh
Township, Belgrave, Wingham and
Auburn as well as Clarksburg.
The celebration of the special
event was held at the Auburn
Community Centre on July 10.
The Jardins' children and
grandchildren greeted the guests.
They are Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Jardin and sons Steven, Randy and

It will take place between August 7

Huron County Museum, 110 North
Street, Goderich, Ontario.
The museum is open Monday
through Saturday from 10 a.m.
until 4:30 p.m. and on Sunday from
1 - 4:30 p.m. for quilt viewing and
self-guided tours of the museum.
Admission to the museum is
required to view the Quilt Show.
