Brussels is a hockey town so when the Optimists came up
with a road hockey tournament for last year's FunFest it
was very well received. The event takes place Saturday

Brussels FunFest
Most popular events back for another year
Some things may have changed
but most favourites are back and
the focus for this year's annual
Brussels FunFest remains the same
— fun, fun, fun.
This Friday the event kicks off
with the parade beginning sharply
at 7:59 p.m. The route begins at the
BMG Community Centre, travels
north down James St all the way to
the municipal office, where it turns
left down Turnberry St. The route
continues south as far as Thomas
St. where it turns east. Then at the
corner of James it travels back to
the arena.
The theme of this year's parade is
appropriately "Come and have
fun". Chairperson Doug McArter
says all children's entries will
receive a loony for participating
from parade co-ordinator Wayne
Lowe.
The Brussels Bulls are again
hosting a slow pitch tournament,
which will begin Friday and runs
through to Sunday.
That evening there is a teen
dance at The Ark with music by
"Parasite".
Saturday begins with a breakfast
at the community centre which
leads into the community flea mar-
ket and garage sale. From 1-4 the
Optimists will be holding a road
hockey tournament at the arena
while at 2 p.m. kids can test their
racing skills at The Citizen's soap
box derby. The starting gate is at
the corner of Thomas and James,
one block north of the arena. The
course runs east down Thomas.
That evening it's time for adult
fun with the Optimist dance. Music
is by "The Desert Dolphins".
