On Tuesday, July 6, A Closer
Walk With Patsy Cline will open
the second stage at Huron Country
Playhouse - Playhouse II, or PII as
it is more commonly known.
Written and directed by Dean
Regan, A Closer Walk With Patsy
Cline has been playing to sold out
houses across Canada and the
United States. It is the musical
story of the life and untimely death
of one of country music's brightest
stars. Portraying Patsy Cline is one
of Canada's brightest, country
music stars, London's own, Marie
Bottrell, a recording artist and song
writer who has appeared on many
TV shows including, The Tommy
Hunter Show, Nashville Now, The
Allan Thicke Show, Sun Country,
The Ronnie Prophet Show, Country
West and Star Parade (Germany).
Ms Bottrell is the winner of
Radio Programmer's Music Poll
(1982 & 1984) as Number One
Country Female Vocalist in
Canada; Female Vocalist of the
Year (1983) for Country Music
News Fan Awards and the
Academy of Country Music
Awards (also nominated for Best
Album and Songwriter of the
Year); Female Vocalist, Album and
Entertainer of the Year (1984) for
Country Music Fan Awards;
Female Vocalist of the Year (1984)
for the Academy of Country Music
Awards and a host of nominations
for her singing and writing skills.
In 1984, Pro-File Entertainment
teamed Ms Bottrell, Canada's
Female Vocalist of the Year, with
the U.S. Male Vocalist of the Year,
Lee Greenwood, for what turned
out to be the "perfect concert pair."
Bottrell and Greenwood played
Kitchener's Centre in the Square
and Hamilton Place and were
"completely compatible and
complimentary to one another."
Now, Marie Bottrell's "unique
vocal styling" will be heard, live on
stage, in A Closer Walk With Patsy
Cline at Huron Country Playhouse
for four weeks only, July 6 - July
31. All of Cline's classics are there:
-"The Wayward Wind," "Walkin'
after Midnight," "Hungry For
Love", "Always," "I Fall to
Pieces", "She's Got You," "Back In
Baby's Arms" and many, many
more, strung together by a small
town radio disc jockey, played by
David Sparrow, who takes you
from Cline's early struggle to her
celebrated appearances at the
Grand 01' Opry, in Los Angeles
and at Carnegie Hall.
The back-up band is made up of
Colin Stewart (Band Leader/Bass
Guitar/Vocals), Ken Stewart
(Drums/Vocals), Don Poulton
(Keyboards/Vocals) and John
Kenny (Guitar/Vocals).
