You have just dusted off your
1992 NISA Program application
and have discovered that the
deadline is July 31. Questions
concerning what forms do I need,
how much money, how does the
program work, etc. stir in your
mind. The bottom line is that you
want to understand how the
program works and you want a
properly completed application.

A NISA account can be used for
several purposes. As a "safety net",
it allows withdrawals when the
farm's gross margin falls below
average or when the individual or
farm family's taxable income falls
below $10,000 or $20,000 respec-
tively. For some farmers NISA will
be used as another retirement
savings vehicle. If you are
completing your own application or
wish to gain, a better understanding
of the program, register today for
the NISA workshop on July 21.
