Brussels Livestock report Fed steer and heifer prices drop Sales at Brussels Livestock for the week ending June 25 were: fed cattle, 860; cows, 295; veal calves, 172; sheep and goats, 112; stockers, 625; and pigs, light run. The market at Brussels Livestock saw fed steers and heifers selling $2 - $3 lower from previous week. Cows sold on a steady trade. There were 493 steers on offer selling from $96 to $102 to the high of $112.25. Eleven steers consigned by William Bennett and Sons Farms Ltd., Gorrie, averaging 1320 lbs. sold for an average of $108.29 with sales to $112.25 purchased by Star Brand Packers. Twelve steers consigned by Robt. Mainland, Arthur, averaging 1265 lbs. sold for an average of $96.49 with sales to $109. Leadership in Action is four days of hands on leadership development where participants have the opportunity to: • network with other volunteers across the province • learn new techniques from experienced facilitators • obtain valuable resource material to use back home • learn while enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of Cedar Glen Conference Centre in Bolton. Leadership in Action has provided its former participants with the confidence and motivation to be key players in their communi- ties and it could do the same for you. Pre-registration is required by contacting the office at 482-3428 or 1-800-265-5170 by Friday, July 16. The purpose of the workshop will be to give an overview of the forms required, to look at key a reason the forms, to discuss the purpose of the program and to answer questions. As a "safety net", it allows withdrawals when the farm's gross margin falls below average or when the individual or farm family's taxable income falls below $10,000 or $20,000 respec- tively. For some farmers NISA will be used as another retirement savings vehicle.
