Graduation 1993

really lucky that year because we
got to experience her wedding to
Jeff Hearn. Some interesting
memories come to mind also, like
the little incident when Erin Forrest
had an eraser thrown her way. The
class wouldn't tell who had done it
and the result was staying in for a
couple of days and a small bit of
humiliation in front of the school,
who did it anyway.

the school, in the teachers and in
ourselves. Most of us have grown
from shy little five-year-olds to
ambitious young adults. We have
to remember that the door is always
open for us, but it's only we who
will close it.
When we leave this school we
will be leaving a chapter of our
lives behind. Nine years of hard
work and dedication led up to this
moment and each of us should
definitely feel proud of our
achievements.
As we carry on into high school
we'll realize that life is tough and
life is real but friendship is
beautiful. As said by an English
poet, "Today, well lived makes
yesterday a dream of happiness,
and tomorrow a vision of hope."
These have been and will be the
best years of our lives.
Our final year in public school I
am sure, outweighed all the others.
For most of us, this past year has
gone by rather quickly, but we've
shared so many special moments
that I'm sure none of us will forget.
It's hard to imagine in September
all of us will be walking into a new
school and feeling the same way
we did the very first day of
kindergarten. Leaving the feeling
of security of Hullett behind we
will open new doors, walk down
At the end of the year we escaped
to Niagara Falls for a day of sight
seeing at the fall and exciting rides
at Marineland.
As we said good bye to Ms
Thorpe-Hearn we said hello to all
our new teachers, six to be exact.
Grade seven was a very different
year. We had teachers coming and
going, just a taste of next year.
Sometimes it was kind of confusing
but on a whole it worked. Our main
new halls and meet new friends.
We owe so much to our teachers
and parents who have stood by us
when we felt like quitting and it
was they who helped us pick
ourselves back up again and start
fresh. We owe a great deal to you
which words can not express.
Together, Forever!
By Amy Jenkins
Graduation has come once more
For the second time in our lives
It's bringing back the memories
The ones that were alive.
For everyone, it's very hard
For us to say good bye
We're leaving the good times that
we had
Waiting to experience the ones
ahead that lie.
Through kindergarten to grade
eight
Our class has shared a lot
A lot of fun times that we had, will
never be forgot.
We've been on field trips all around
To experience something new
The joy of leaving home with
friends
Is really fun to do.
But everything's changing quickly
And it's time to say goodbye
It's hard to leave you all so soon
And the memories behind that lie.
Our class has come a long, long
way
And our friendships will last
teacher was Mrs. Gross who taught
us History and English which she
taught well; she didn't mind
answering any questions. One of
the most exciting things that
happened that year apart from the
arrival of Michelle Harris and
Melissa Atkinson was our four. day
trip to Quebec City. We experi-
enced culture and got to use the
French we learned in the past five
years. Many things happened, too
many to tell, but we had a great
forever
Goodbye, farewell, I'll miss you all
In our hearts forever!
I know it's hard when no one
likes goodbyes but it's time to start
saying a few. Some friendships will
stay as strong as ever and some will
fade away.
As someone once said "When
friendships are formed so are
memories." All of us will
remember the memories we shared.
But I think we all feel it's time to

turned during health class.
We've shared joy and we've
shared sorrow, we've shared victory
and we've shared defeat. There was
always a classmate to offer encour-
agement when it was needed and
chide when it was deserved.
It will be hard to say good bye
but as in all families as the children
grow up there is a time to move out
and move on. There are no words
that can express our gratitude tp all
the people that made this day
possible.
To my fellow graduates I can
only say that we are at the
threshold of a new day and the
world is at our doorstep. Let's seize
time.
Along with Madame Rea the
main organizer of this trip was Mr.
Bartlett, who is now our grade
eight teacher. He is never afraid to
speak his mind but is a good
teacher. I think we all enjoyed him
as our grade eight teacher.
Grade eight was a busy year,
especially for Kendra Leishman,
Erin Cook and Todd Walker who
kept the students' council alive.
And Jennifer Black, Erin Forrest,
move on. We've learned many
things here, and will keep on
learning for the rest of our lives.
When we leave here and begin high
school and then for some of us,
college or university, we will be
looked at as individuals and as
individuals we have our dreams
and ambitions.
I would like to wish a fond
farewell to this class of '93 and
may all your dreams and ambitions
be fulfilled!
it with both hands. With courage,
dedication and hard work the future
will surely be ours.
In closing I would like to read a
verse from a poem written by
Thomas Moore entitled "Go Where
Glory Waits Thee".
Go where glory waits thee,
But while fame elates thee,
Oh! still remember me.
When the praise thou meetest
To thine ear is sweetest,
Oh! then remember me.
Other arms may press thee,
Dearer friends caress thee,
Sweeter far may be;
But when friends are nearest,
And when joys are dearest,
Oh! then remember me.
Melissa Snowden and Michelle
Freiburger who worked all year on
the yearbook.
In our class trips this year we
went to four very interesting places.
Late in the fall we went to the
Wawanosh Conservation Area
where we learned about soil
importance. Next we found
ourselves in Talisman Ski resort
where we skied the day away and
finally we finished the year with a
trip to the Royal Ontario Museum
to do a study on early man and then
to Canada's Wonderland where we
studied modern men and women
and exhilarating rides. It was a very
exciting finish to elementary school
trips and East Wawanosh Public
School.
I have neglected to mention how
fortunate the students of E.W.P.S.
are to have the Belgrave School
Fair. Each student has his/her own
special memory of this fair. My
own is taking part in the horse
show. In preparation for this event I
become the teacher and horse
becomes the student. I, as the
teacher must encourage, guide and
discipline the horse, as a real
teacher must do with a student. By
the time the fair has arrived student
and teacher are working as a team.
At the successful completion of the
show student and teacher feel a
sense of accomplishment and
reward.
So thank you, Mrs. Hessels, Mrs.
Brydges, Mrs. Wilson, Mr. Fisher,
Mr. Kerr, Mrs Thorpe-Hearn, Mrs.
Gross, Mrs. Daer, Madam Rea, Mr.
Bartlett and Mr. Scott and all of the
other teachers. And also thank you
to all the parents for your guidance,
discipline and encouragement
during the last nine years at East
Wawanosh.
I hope we have given you as
much of a sense of accomplishment
as you have given us.
So now we go on to high school
but we will always remember the
teachers and parents and Belgrave
School Fair as part of our youth.
Remember the door is always open
