Myth Public School-
Blyth graduates look back on memories
By Abigail Ramirez
Good evening ladies and gentle-
men, teachers and fellow graduates.
Tonight is a night for goodbyes
and hellos, a time to look back at
valued memories, a time to plan for
the future, a moment to cherish and
then move on. All these are a part
of change.
Change is often thought of as a
disrupting of established routines,
another worry to those who feel
insecure, and a burden to those who
have trouble adjusting.
But change should be thought of
as something positive, an exciting
challenge or goal, a time to learn
and have fun.
Change affects many people,
sometimes in different ways. Some
graduates will attend Clinton or
Wingham secondary schools, a
couple will go to Goderich and
myself to London Central. But we
are all making the same change of
going to high school.
Through the years our class has
had many memorable moments, in
fact too many for this speech. So
these are just a few examples of our
vast experiences together.
Although I missed a few years
with this class because I moved
here in grade three, I came just in
time to be a part of the annual class
dances which we held to raise
money to buy our teacher a gift.
Our many class trips like our excur-
sion to the "jail" in Goderich, the
Lambton County Heritage Muse-
um, St. Marie Among the Hurons
and our recent and most enjoyable
trip to Toronto are fine examples of
our class spirit and cooperation.
We will never forget all these
memories, especially those spur-of-
the-moment incidents which
remind us of certain people or
places. Remember when I was hit
by a baseball in a not so pleasant
place. Who will forget the girls
singing on the bus on the way to
and from our trip to the Ontario
Science Centre last year, and our
Toronto trip this year. I'm sure Mr.
Morton and Mr. Harrison didn't
mind.
But as we move on, we will
make memories, meet new people
and make new friends.
No one knows for sure what our
future holds for us, but I believe we
are capable of creating our own
destiny through choices. As we
live, our choices become more dif-
ficult and unclear, so I am thankful
for an education which willlead us
in the right direction.
On behalf of the graduates I
would like to thank all the parents
and families for all their love and
support, for raising us and for their
patience they continue to have for
us. To our teachers, thank you for
your guidance and knowledge, wis-
dom, influence and for having
enough faith to push us towards
what we are capable of accomplish-
ing. I thank you my fellow class-
mates.
My friends, thank you for listen-
ing and for all the wonderful mem-
ories I shall never forget. There are
so many people we've met who
have inspired us and many other
acquaintances with unforgettable
people, thank you so much for all
your support and encouragement.
We have learned much through
the years and we will learn so much
more as we move on. I have a lot of
hope and hopefully we will all have
good fortune as well. I would like
to meet with you again in the
future and remember all of this. For
now I wish only the best to you all
through this transition of growing
up. Before I finish, I will tell you
what change is to me:
Change can be abrupt and change
can be slow,
Change can mean holding on and
at times letting go,
Everyone has had a change or
has yet to have one some day,
Some people like change and still
