Community loses
long-time resident
In appreciation for volunteering
their time at the school, the staff at
Walton Public School invited
JoAnn McDonald, Brenda Linton,
Patty Banks, Kathy McNichol,
Joyce Williamson and Julie Glauser
to a volunteer luncheon at the
Brussels Country Inn.
After a delicious meal Mrs.
Wilson presented each volunteer
with a lovely piece of pottery.
Brenda Linton, on behalf of her
husband gave everyone a red rose.
Patty Banks then put the teachers
on the spot by asking them to
comment on their year.
"What a super year we've had in
grade two/three! The year went by
so quickly we actually ran out of
time to do everything that we
wanted to do.
I wish the best to all the grade
threes who are moving on.
Remember boys and girls, I do
expect those letters you've
promised.
Grade two: see you in
September. Have a great summer. —
Mrs. Scott.
As I reflect on the 1992-93
school year, on the mannerly, co-
operative children at Walton Public
School, and the positive support
that we received from the
community; as I look forward to
1993-94, I think of the new
addition to W.P.S.
Have a safe and happy summer. —
Louise Wilson VP.
Patty asked June Johns if she'd
like to say anything, she said, 'Yes,
I've lost my job."
After noticing the stunned faces
she said, "I've lost it to a giant
teddy bear that was seated at my
desk."
It was kindergarten graduation
and Teddy Bear picnic. Mrs. Talbot
had teddy bears set up at various
stations.
Mrs. Johns wishes everyone a
happy summer.
Mrs. Vandendool's grade one/two
class would like to say a big Thank
You to helpers, Mrs. McDonald,
Mrs. Linton and Mrs. Williamson.
Mrs. Vandendool says thank you
to parents for their support all year.
The class has had a great time
together. She wishes all a
wonderful and safe summer and
looks forward to seeing everyone in
September.
We have such a great school
community. Where else do children
get to learn from mechanics, fitness
pros, nurses, household engineers,
farmers, sales persons, and clerical
workers, as well as teachers? What
better proof is there for children
that learning is a life-long process.
The children are the winners.
They are neat to teach. Thanks for
your support. — Della Bennett
The children and I have had a
busy and an exciting year together.
Our kindergarten farewell (Teddy
Bear slumber party and picnic) was
a great success and a wonderful
way to end our year.
Thank you Mrs. Wilbee for
sharing your talent with us again.
Thank you parents for sharing
your children with me and a special
thank you to those of you who have
also shared your time wish us to
help out with special activities. You
and your children have helped
make my first year of teaching very
special and memorable.
I look forward to see you again
next year, as part of the
Seaforth/Walton staff.
Kindergarten, thank you for
being such hard workers and good
helpers this year. You have all
grown in so many ways. You are a
co-operative and caring bunch. I
wish you all continued success in
grade one. —Kimberly Talbot
Congratulations to those Walton-
area students who graduated from
grade eight, June 23 — Brandy
Banks, Shannon Davies, Randy
Linton, Chad McCallum, Colleen
McCallum, LeeAnn McDonald,
Jason Shortreed, and Amanda
Workman. Chad McCallum won
the Edna Bell award for most
improved student in Language Arts
and also the best overall award for
physical education.
It seems each year goes by more
quickly than the last one. We feel
this has been a very good year at
Wilton. It is rewarding to look
back and realize the
accomplishments.
Our library was computerized
this past year and so we have been
quite busy learning to operate this
new system.
We appreciate the community
support to our annual Book Fair
with profits used to add several
new books to our library shelves.
Walton Public School is a

Monkton, United Church June 28.
A funeral service was held
Saturday for a long-time Walton-
area resident, Margery Ritchie. She
was remembered as one who
devoted herself to family, the farm
and Duff's United Church. She was
an inspiration to many through her
example of vitality, generosity and
faithfulness. The community
extends its sympathies to the
surviving family members.

Jo-Ann McDonald greeted
worshippers at Duff's United June
27.
The choir delighted people with
their song, "Precious Memories".
The theme of the service was
`Sacrifice'. Rev. Banks, with
baseball bat in hand, talked about a
sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly.
This is done to advance the runner
at the risk of being put out himself.
His sermon was called "The High
Price of Sacrifice". It,has to do with
giving up something of value for
the sake of something that is more
beneficial to someone else. We
think in terms of sacrificing time,
energy, money, self giving. Next
Sunday Rev. Banks and his wife
Patty will be performing a small
skit as part of the service. Patty
invites everyone to come see
