THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 30, 1993. HIV/AIDS clinic opens Friday June 25 marked the open- ing of an HIV/AIDS clinic in Clin- ton. Operating out of 15A Rattenbury E., the clinic offers many services need by those inflicted with the dis- ease. Founded in June of 1992, the clinic offers support and education for those in need. There will now be a 24 hour hot-line available on which messages will be taken. The lines will be staffed live on Thurs- day evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. At present, there are 21 known cases of HIV in Huron County. These individuals as well as all people in the community need to be educated to help stop the spread. All the people presently involved in the program are volunteers and they raise funds through local fundraising events. Thus far, East Wawanosh Public School has been the largest contributor with a total of $400. Some support was received from .the Ontario Ministry of Health. After the ribbon cutting and open house a barbeque was held in the town square to help with the finances. Cast members from the Blyth The Wingham Voice For Life Chapter met for its monthly meeting on Monday, June 7, at the home of Jim and Hinke Bakelaar. After enjoying a delicious pot luck meal. President, Nancy McKeon opened with a word of prayer and a short reading. The treasurer read the financial report followed by a short report from the membership committee. The educational person reported that the 10 "Hardtruth" videos ordered had arrived.
