HIV/AIDS clinic opens
Friday June 25 marked the open-
ing of an HIV/AIDS clinic in Clin-
ton.
Operating out of 15A Rattenbury
E., the clinic offers many services
need by those inflicted with the dis-
ease.
Founded in June of 1992, the
clinic offers support and education
for those in need. There will now
be a 24 hour hot-line available on
which messages will be taken. The
lines will be staffed live on Thurs-
day evenings from 7 to 9 p.m.
At present, there are 21 known
cases of HIV in Huron County.
These individuals as well as all
people in the community need to be
educated to help stop the spread.
All the people presently involved
in the program are volunteers and
they raise funds through local
fundraising events. Thus far, East
Wawanosh Public School has been
the largest contributor with a total
of $400. Some support was
received from .the Ontario Ministry
of Health.
After the ribbon cutting and open
house a barbeque was held in the
town square to help with the
finances.
