Rutabaga Festival 1993 Event, a fishy favourite Slippery grip This young angler had a good outing at the annual Rutabaga Festival's fishing derby held each year at Radford's Pond. Once again the Rutabaga Festi- val's annual fishing derby will be held at Radford's Pond south of Blyth on Sunday, June 27. The contest is open to all chil- dren but they must be accompanied by an adult and supply their own fishing rod and bait. The Radford group is organizing the event and will be presenting prizes to the winners. Shrine Club hosts fish fry The Bluewater Shriner's Club has returned with a fish fry after a two year absence from the festival. The meal will include white perch, choice of salad, roll, dessert and tea or coffee. The Shriner's will be serving at the arena from 9 p.m. to la.m. on Saturday June 26. The price is $8.50 per adult or $4.50 for children. Tickets can be purchased at the arena that night. Cookbooks on sale Last year for the first time a recipe book was compiled of all the interesting recipes that had been created for the annual Blyth Rutabaga Festival. One hundred prize winning recipes were chosen, many from the 1990 and 1991 competif_ons. The recipe books are still avail- able at a pri.:e of $5 from Bell's Variety in Blyth.
