East Wawanosh students work on last Eng. centre At the West Wawanosh council meeting, June 1, it was agreed that Eugene Johnston will extract 100,000 metric tonnes of gravel from the pit of E. S. Johnston Farms, in conjunction with Col- borne Twp. A price of 25 cents per tonne for extraction and five cents per tonne for stripping was set. The township will be responsible for the gravel tax. Preparations are being made in Auburn for the application of asphalt to the streets. The Ministry of Transportation granted a supple- mentary subsidy. Auburn will proceed with recy- GRADE FIVE/SIX Students have been working on the last English centre called "Our Fatherland". They are creating their own Coat of Arms and researching into their family trees, along with reading about famous Canadians and studying pioneer history. All wrote final Environmental Studies unit tests on Canada and Europe, and handed in completed a book this past week. The grade sixes have finished their European countries projects. Students are eagerly awaiting two very special events: a field trip to Huron Country Playhouse to see the musical Oliver and Authors' Day where they'll share their published books. SPECIAL EVENTS Most of the students are also busy putting the finishing touches on their books which they are publishing for Authors' Day, June 14.
