A local area man received a call
from what turned out to be a
Toronto area pay phone saying he
had won a new car and it would be
tailered to his residence.
The potential victim was told he
would have to wire $480 by Wes-
tern Union to a Toronto address to
cover shipping. In the interim he
got another call saying the car had
fallen off the shipping transport and
they would replace it with a Jeep
Cherokee, if he sent a further $500
to cover additional shipping
expenses.
The caller said he was calling for
a company called Fantasy Produc-
tions and that they had just had
their yearly draw.
The company name and that of

were read. It was moved that a
donation be given to these two
organizations. Helen Lawson
presented Margaret Taylor, who
has been a member for 35 years,
with a life membership.
Leita Wiley was in charge of the
program. She introduced the guest
speaker Sue Hay of Clinton. Her
topic was the environment. Leita
presented her with a Londesboro
cook book.
Mrs. Wiley gave a report on the
District Annual held at Wingham
on May 31. Collection and Pennies
for Friendshi i were collected.
It appears that the money goes
into an account which can be
accessed by a money machine for
withdrawal purposes and within
minutes of any money being sent, it
is removed and the action becomes
untraceable.
OPP are warning people to
beware of any telephone offers and
insist on written follow up as anji
legitimate company will be glad to
do this.
Do not allow yourself to become
excited by the prospect of immed-
iate delivery and sending money to
cover the shipping.
