Verburg, daughter of Jacobus and Rita Verburg of R.R. #1 Auburn graduated on June 12, 1993 from Conestoga College of Applied Arts and Technology receiving a diploma in the Early Childhood Education Program. Graduation Steven Michle, son of Lloyd and Nancy Michle, received an Associate Diploma In Agriculture, from the University of Guelph, on June 1, 1993. Congratulations Steve! Pitching in Londesboro Lions president Don MacGregor threw the opening pitch at the PeeWee girls game last week after presenting them with the new team sweaters donated by the club. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 16, 1993. Church presents awards The June meeting of Cheerio Club was held on Wednesday afternoon, June 9 at 2 p.m. at the home of Geraldine Dale. Vi Hoggart gave a reading on gardening. The minutes of the April meeting were read. Roll call was The June meeting of Londesboro W.I. was held on Wednesday evening, June 9 at the hall at 8 p.m. President Lois Elliott opened the meeting. Lois read a poem, "Who is the Happiest Bird?" Roll call was answered by "what you do to help the environment." Reta gave the minutes of the May meeting. They were approved as read. Reta gave the financial report. A thank you was read from Glen and Leita Wiley for an anniversary present. Letters from the Children's Aid Society and Huntin ton's Societ 'JO A local area man received a call from what turned out to be a Toronto area pay phone saying he had won a new car and it would be tailered to his residence. The potential victim was told he would have to wire $480 by Wes- tern Union to a Toronto address to cover shipping. In the interim he got another call saying the car had fallen off the shipping transport and they would replace it with a Jeep Cherokee, if he sent a further $500 to cover additional shipping expenses. The caller said he was calling for a company called Fantasy Produc- tions and that they had just had their yearly draw. Helen Lawson presented Margaret Taylor, who has been a member for 35 years, with a life membership. Leita Wiley was in charge of the program. She introduced the guest speaker Sue Hay of Clinton. Her topic was the environment. Leita presented her with a Londesboro cook book. Mrs. Wiley gave a report on the District Annual held at Wingham on May 31. It appears that the money goes into an account which can be accessed by a money machine for withdrawal purposes and within minutes of any money being sent, it is removed and the action becomes untraceable. OPP are warning people to beware of any telephone offers and insist on written follow up as anji legitimate company will be glad to do this. Do not allow yourself to become excited by the prospect of immed- iate delivery and sending money to cover the shipping. When written confirmation is received check on the company through your local police department and better business bureau before getting involved. No legally operated company should worry about your checking their background. Crime Stoppers of Huron County Inc., along with Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce Inc. are offering a special joint reward of a total of $100 for information that leads to the arrest of a person or persons responsible for the theft of a substantial number of outboard motors (and the clearing of a significant number of the cases involved). He also won the mixed lake front and cottage areas from the Pinery Park (Grand Bend area) at the South end to Sauble Beach and Georgian Bay (Owen Sound area) at the North end from July 1992 to May 1993. As part of the church service Florence Cartwright and Cheryl Trewartha gave their reports on being at Westminister weekend in London. Holy Communion is next Sunday. Huronview Fellowship will be held Thursday, June 17 from 7 - 7:45 p.m. Stan MacDonald's retirement party is next Sunday, June 20 at 7 p.m. at Corunna United Church. Choir practice will be held at 10:15 a.m. June 20 and 27. Gail Lear is presenting her music recital at Londesboro church Sunday evening, June 13 at 7 p.m. doubles title. Jack bowled 103 pins over his average. He won a microwave oven and two trophies.
