Tripartite meeting to be held By John Bancroft Farm Management Specialist for Huron County Huron County beef producers, including cow-calf, feeder cattle and slaughter cattle producers, are invited to a meeting on Tuesday, June 1 to discuss alternatives to the current National Tripartite Stabilization Program for beef. The meeting will be held at the Festival Inn, Stratford starting at 7 p.m. The tripartite program was introduced in 1986 as a program to help participating producers reduce market risk. Over the past six months producers and government representatives have met across Canada and have developed five proposed options for producers to consider. The five options are: • a value added income stabilization account (VMS A) that would support producers' incomes rather than prices; • a modified NISP that would be a significantly revised version of the current program; • a risk management agency that would use market instruments, such as futures or oprtions, to provide price insurance to producers; • a stabilization program for cow- calf producers only; • no program. sold for an average of $105.68 with sales to $113.25.
