The Belgrave Women's Institute Hall was packed Saturday night with hungry people for the Calvin-Brick Cold Meat supper. The annual event attracts dozens of diners who help raise money for church functions. 54 people enjoy potluck Bill and Muriel Coultes visited on Sunday, May 31 at the home of Mark and Janice Matheson of Molesworth. The family had gathered there to celebrate the 35th wedding anniversary of their parents. Hospital thanks local suppliers The Wingham and District Hospital hosted a reception on May 19 at the Nursing Assistant School to recognize the following local suppliers who have served the hospital for more than 25 years: Lee Vance, Vance's Guardian Drug Store; Murray Stainton, Stainton's Hardware; Ross Jamieson, Ross A. Jamieson Construction; Jack Hodgins, Hodgins Homecare & Pro Hardware and John Bateson, Bateson's Model Dairy. Each supplier was presented with a certificate of recognition. Doris Inglis, board chairman, commended the recipients on their years of service, emphasizing that the hospital's excellent reputation is a result of the fine efforts of people like these. Mr. Koch, C.E.O. commented that since his arrival in Wingham he has been impressed with the level of support there is for the hospital right throughout the community, and the special tribute paid to these local merchants is further recognition of the commercial strength of Wingham's business community. Two physicians also were honoured for their 25 years of service at the hospital. They are Dr. R. Treleaven, radiologist and Dr. W. Whelen, pediatrician. Two staff members were also awarded gold watches in recognition of their 25 years of service. They are Mrs. Eileen McGlynn, R.N. and Mr. Doug Switzer, orderly. This is a yearly gathering at this home. Harvey's birthday is also May 24. Those present attended from Petrolia, Brigden, Tavistock, Aylmer, Blyth, Lucknow, Kitchener, Wingham and Belgrave. Mrs. Lillian Johnson of Toronto and Mrs. Muriel Garniss of Brussels visited with their cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse on Thursday evening, May 27.
