Warm temperatures and sunny skies made it tempting for Janice Jacklin and Brad Beuermann to indulge in some water games during this car wash at Brussels IGA on Saturday. The event, sponsored by the Ark youth boards raised $180 for the Canadian Mental Health Association/Huron as part of Mental Health Week. IGA owner Allan Teeft donated $1 for each of the 60 cars washed to the Ark. Students win for decorations The Wingham and District Hospital announces the winners of its Canada Health Day placement decorating contest. In celebration of Canada Health Day the students at all the Wing- ham and area elementary schools were invited to decorate a tray cover to be used on the food trays sent with patients meals in the hospital the week of May 10 - 15. The best three entries from each class were then selected for an area wide contest to determine the overall winners for each grade. A committee of board members completed its judging on May 4. . _ The first place winners were: Bridget Kellington, Kindergarten, East Wawanosh Public School; Emily Elston, grade one, East Buon porno, welcome to Italy! It's The Grand Theatre's 19th Annual Dinner and Auction with an Italian twist! This year's auction will be filed with excitement, astounding auction items, fabulous food and the best dance music in town. The event will take place on Saturday, May 8 starting at 6 p.m. at Centennial Hall. This year's timely Italian theme coincides with The Grand's current production of John Patrick Shanley's exuberant romantic comedy, Italian American Reconciliation. Auction patrons will savour a lavish Italian buffet complemented with celebrated Italian wines for the ticket price of $115 per person or $225 per couple. More than 350 items will be auctioned off in both 'live' and 'silent' portions of the auction. Unique and unusual items have been sought after. The result is highly desirable, very rare travel packages, dining experiences, fabulous fashions, handcrafted furniture, uncommon decorative items and much, much more. The event begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail party and 'silent' auction. Then it's the plentiful Italian banquet complete with dessert, followed by the value-packed 'live' auction. Madill Secondary School will be hosting an Alcohol Awareness Program on May 17 at 7:30 p.m. given by Norbert Georget. The program will include such topics as drinking and driving, alcohol, drugs and your body, am I an alcoholic?, it's okay not to drink, A by-law decreasing the speed limit at the St. Augustine intersec- tion was passed by West Wawanosh council at their May 4 meeting.
