A $9,500 proposed budget was
drawn up by the Blyth memorial
Community Hall committee at their
April 26 meeting.
The committee estimated rev-
enues at $6,500 for rentals and
$2,500 for a recreation grant plus
$500 trust for a trophy case.
On the expense side, it was esti-
mated $400 would be spent on
meetings and administration,
$6,000 on benefits and wages,
$7,500 on PUC, $1,200 on materi-
als and supplies, $240 on propane,
$2,500 on insurance, $650 on an
audit, $130 for a lift license and
$1,500 for painting.
Chair Shirley Fyfe obtained a
quote from Blyth Decorating to
apply one coat of paint on ceiling,
walls, door and trim for 1,308.95.
To paint the downstairs washrooms
would be $185.90.
A future cost for slat blinds was
eliminated when Edythe Glousher
said the Blyth Legion Ladies Aux-
iliary has offered to pay for the
blinds wanted for the Hall. The
offer was gratefully accepted by the
committee.
In other committee news, mem-
bers learned that Blyth Construc-
tion will start work at the hall in
May to repair the ceiling which was
damaged due to a sprinkler fault.
When the ceiling is fixed, Forest
City Fire Protection-will assess the
situation.
Ray Salverda made a motion that
quotes be obtained to paint the
sprinkler system pipes below the
ceiling and inquire if painting of
these pipes would be covered by
the insurance company.
Another motion was made
regarding the installation of a tro-
phy case in the hall. Mr. Salverda
recommended two quotes be
obtained to build a corner trophy
cabinet with a light and adjustable
shelves. The case will be used to
store 16 trophies from the Rutabaga
Festival.
