Dirt, dirt go away

Community Centre clean. The group swept the lot to
receive a $100 donation for Ark, a youth drop-in centre in

A group of members from the
Brussels Legion will be represent-
ing the branch for the Loyalty Day
Celebration held in Standish,
Michigan on May 1. Standish is the
sister city branch to Brussels.
Members ‘•vill be participating in
the parade and social activities
planned.
On Friday, May 14 the Brussels
Branch and Ladies Auxiliary are
holding the installation ceremony.
Other ceremonies planned are the
presentation of the Years of Service
pins. Receiving their 45 year pins
will be Frank Cardiff, Ross Elliott,
Bill Coutts, Bill McWhirter, Bill
Dobson. In all approximately 65
members will be receiving pins
ranging from five years to 45 years
of consecutive service. Nine other
members will be receiving either
medals or bars.
Also at this time 19 new
members will be initiated to the
branch: Tara Pipe, Jim Dobson,
Ross Knight, Steven Cockram,
Murray and Mariann Bone, Darryl
and Donald Hastings, Nick
Mastnak, Stanley Alexander, John
Wayne Lowe, Will Dowson,
Sandra Huether, Paul Thompson,
Isobel Emmerson, Julie and John
Harrison and Marvin Grimes.
On Tuesday, May 18 the
Brussels Legion Cadet Corp will be
having their annual inspection. The
inspection begins at 7 p.m.
Results of the euchre night held
at the branch on April 28 are as

The regular meeting of Morning
Star Rebekah Lodge, Brussels took
place on April 27 with Noble
Grand Gertie Kellington presiding.
There were no visitors but a good
attendance of members.
Jean Bridge, District Secretary
gave a report on the District
meeting held on April 14. Dona-
tions were made to the Salvation
Army, Wingham and to Mission
Services of London.
There will be a Past Grands night
on May 25. The next regular
meeting will be on May 11.

the reception and a family brunch
at the Brussels Country Inn on
Sunday.
Wayne, Shawn and Sharie
Jacklin returned home on Saturday
evening, May 1 after an enjoyable
10-day motor trip to Western
Canada. Upon arrival in Calgary,
they spent two days with their
cousin, Ron Jacklin and Doreen,
then did some sight-seeing around
Banff, Lake Louise and Kamloops,
before returning to Ron's where
they enjoyed a dinner and evening
with his family members.
They left for home on Thursday
night, April 29.

The Tuesday night mixed dart
league wrapped up regular play on
April 27. After an exciting 20
weeks of competition total starts
and finishes were calculated. For
the men total starts were: Gord
Jacklin, first; Lawrence Machan,
second; Bill Nethery and Adam
Smith, third (tied); Dave Adams,
fourth; Jim McLean, fifth. For the
ladies total starts were: Kitty
Rutledge, first; Kathy Cochrane,
first; Colleen Martin, second; Deb
Cann, third; Kitty Rutledge, fourth;
Jean Little, fifth. Ladies high
shooters were Kathy Cochrane and
Colleen Martin both with 140
scores. For the men, Adam Smith
was the high with 180; Barry
Machan was next with 145 score.
