The fine for not wearing a
restraint is $90 and drivers are
responsible for any passenger under
16 years of age who is not properly
fastened in a seat belt or child
safety seat.
To help drive the message home,
the Ministry of Transportation has
prepared a variety of information
sheets ranging from proper seat belt
and child safety seat use, to myths
and facts about seat belts and air
bags, to legal requirements to
buckle up. As well as English and
French, the ministry has informa-
tion available in Chinese, Spanish,
Vietnamese, Punjabi, Italian,
Greek, Korean and Portuguese. The
public is invited to call the
ministry's public inquiry hotline at

Judge
fines
man
$500
A Brussels man was fined $500
for assault in Wingham's provincial
court, April 21.
Ken Graber, who pled guilty to
the charge March 10 was also
placed on probation for 12 months
and ordered by presiding Judge
R.G.E. Hunter to receive coun-
selling as recommended by the pro-
bation officer.
