entitled 'The Face of Jesus' was
revised and acted by Rev. Cam

Rev. Banks played the part of
Jesus and Rev. McMillan played
Barabus. Both men portrayed the
characters with sensitivity and
realism.
The scene was set in a jail cell.
Throughout the drama Barabus
would question why Jesus kept

pigs smell
Grade two-three wants to thank
Mrs. Linton and Mrs. Glauser for
coming in to help with Easter nests.
Thank you, Mrs. Glauser for the
recipe. Some of them got home
before they were eaten.
We'd like to share this story from
Jeff Linton:
On The Farm
There's pigs around here in this
area. They're very smelly. I have a
pet pig named Big Lou. He's a very
big, fat pig. My dad has about
1,000 pigs. My other pet pig is a
sow. She's going to have babies on
April 21. She's fat right now. My
dad's barn is very big. We have

Nevertheless, Brussels and Grey

Blyth and Hullett Twp. Trustee

people don't have.

one had ever shown love and
compassion to Barabus before.
Jesus was taken to the cross and
Barabus was set free but only to
end up in the jail cell again. This
time, however he was innocent. He
fell upon a man who had been
beaten and left for dead. Wanting
to fmish him off he raised his knife,
but couldn't continue, for when the
man opened his eyes Barabus saw
the face of Jesus in them.
Easter morning greeters at Duff's
United Church were Nita and
Laverne McClure. The service
began with the choir singing, "He
is Lord", followed by the youth
group who did the call to worship
by presenting the new Easter
banner. Chad McCallum carrying a
cross draped in black, led
mourners, Sharon Godkin, Cindy
McCallum, Shannon Craig,
Heather Eckel, Lee-Ann
McDonald, Colleen McCallum,
Stacie Linton, Shannon Davies, and
Brandy Banks, who wore black
armbands and carried the banner.
At the front of the church, Chris
Davies climbed the ladder as
Sharon and Cindy handed him the
folded banner. As he hung it on the
nail and let it unfold, each person in
turn tore off their armbands and
Chad pulled the black cloth off the
cross. With arms reaching high
they shouted 'He is Risen,
Alleluia!'
The relighting of the Christ
candle liturgy was read by Patty
and Tanner Banks.
The choir, accompanied by
Glenda Carter on piano, Marion
Godkin on trumpet and Keith
Wilbee on saxophone, sang 'An
Easter Fanfare'.
Rev. Banks told the Easter story
to the children by using an Easter
acrostic — E-early, A-afraid, S-See,
T-tell, E-empty, R-risen.
The sermon was called 'How
does one hide Easter?'
We hide Easter under pagan
symbols, such as chocolate Easter
bunnies or new clothes. On the first
Easter day the example of hiding
was the disciples hiding behind
locked doors, afraid of the Jews.

I asked some young kids what
they liked about Easter and the
answers varied from candy, hunting
eggs, presents and going to church.
I told them what I remembered as
a little girl. One Easter my mom
had bought me a pair of brand new
white shoes, a hat and white gloves.
I wasn't allowed to wear the shoes
until Easter. So every day I'd go
into my parents' closet and admire
