The Blyth Calvinette group, along with their counsellors performed a couple of songs for the congregation. Several girls accompanied the singing with a variety of instruments. Blyth Euchre winners for March 29 are: high lady, Vi Hoggarth; high man, Ted Fothergill; low lady, Bernice Brown; low man, Margaret Nesbit (playing as a man); ladies' lone hands, Erma Crich; men's lone hands, Evelyn Christenson (playing as a man); and special, Effie McCall and Bill Craig. Winners of the weekly lost heir Wednesday evening were: high lady, Ruth Dougherty; high gent, Bert Daer; low lady, Edythe Glousher; low gent, Lloyd Walden and special, Edythe Snell. Once again this year canvassers will be calling for donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. Cancer can be beaten with a cheque and checkup. The choir also took part in this Palm Sunday service by singing two numbers. The sermon was entitled "The Cross of Jesus". The message was taken from Luke 23, focusing on verse 33. Rev. Heersink pointed out that the cross is the centre of Christian religion. It is the most significant symbol. The cross and what it stands for is the heart of Christian faith. We are born to live, but Christ was born to die. His whole life was a walk to the cross. tIt was on that cross that he took our tins and bought us with his blood. Continued from page 1 restrict livestock access to the stream. A duet "Road of Love" was sung by Danny Snell and Garth Walden accompanied by the director of music, Phyllis Boak. Rev. Ramirez' sermon was "The Meaning of Jesus Kingship". What is the meaning of Jesus being King in our lives? he asked. Jesus is Lord of our lives. If Jesus is not Lord of all, Jesus is not Lord at all! said Rev. Ramirez. On this Palm Sunday what does it mean that Jesus is Lord? Give him the praise, honour and glory if He is going to be King, he said. The Sacrament of Holy Communion was observed with elders, Lloyd Sippel, Bea Chambers, Steve Caldwell, Herb Shannon, Vera Hesselwood, Lois Van Vliet, Barb Richmond, Bill Burkholder, Bev Snell and Bonnie Shannon, who prepared and served the elements. The congregation is saddened by the death of member Jim Lawrie. Sincere sympathy is extended to Janet and family. An Easter lily was placed in Environment Partners fund. The Lucknow Community Greenway Project's aim is to improve three tributaries of the Nine Mile River within the village of Lucknow.
