Palm Sunday service by singing
two numbers.
The sermon was entitled "The
Cross of Jesus". The message was
taken from Luke 23, focusing on
verse 33. Rev. Heersink pointed out
that the cross is the centre of
Christian religion. It is the most
significant symbol. The cross and
what it stands for is the heart of
Christian faith. We are born to live,
but Christ was born to die. His
whole life was a walk to the cross.
tIt was on that cross that he took our
tins and bought us with his blood.

April 4 were Depbie'Craig and
Fred Hakkers. Ushers were Kim
Richmond, Trent Richmond, Jill
Walden and Mary Walden. In
charge of junior congregation was
Frances Bearss, while Colleen
McNichol looked after the nursery.
Rev. Ramirez opened the service
with Call to Worship. Hymn "All
glory, laud and honour" was sung,
followed by responsive reading
(Psalm 31). Scripture reading
Matthew 21: 1-11 was read by
Jennifer Brigham and Cathy Fraser.
The hymn was "Ride on, Ride on
in Majesty".
Conversation with the children
was the significance of the palm,
being the sign of welcome and joy.
A duet "Road of Love" was sung
by Danny Snell and Garth Walden
accompanied by the director of
music, Phyllis Boak.
Rev. Ramirez' sermon was "The
Meaning of Jesus Kingship". What
is the meaning of Jesus being King
in our lives? he asked. Jesus is Lord
of our lives. If Jesus is not Lord of
all, Jesus is not Lord at all! said
Rev. Ramirez. On this Palm
Sunday what does it mean that
Jesus is Lord? Give him the praise,
honour and glory if He is going to
be King, he said.
The Sacrament of Holy
Communion was observed with
elders, Lloyd Sippel, Bea
Chambers, Steve Caldwell, Herb
Shannon, Vera Hesselwood, Lois
Van Vliet, Barb Richmond, Bill
Burkholder, Bev Snell and Bonnie
Shannon, who prepared and served
the elements.

the death of member Jim Lawrie.
