"Hands On Tourism and
Working Together" is the theme for
the fourth annual brochure swap
and tourism event planned by the
Huron Tourism group for
Thursday, April 29 beginning at
2:15 p.m. at Blyth Festival Theatre.
Tourism operators and the general
public are invited to participate.
Huron Tourism is a grass roots
group brought together by the
Huron County Planning and
Development Department to
promote tourism in the county;
support networking among tourism
partners; and identify and put
tourism-related projects into action.
Sandra Chabot, manager of the
Southwestern Ontario Travel
Association, will speak at the
brochure' swap at 3 p.m. about
strategies for co-operative
marketing.
A buffet dinner will be held at
Blyth Inn at 5 p.m. Dinner speaker
will be Jim Reed of Dungannon,
broadcast journalist, communi-
cations consultant and strategic
planner who is perhaps best known
as former host of CTV's W-5
program.
After dinner, Lynda Pinnington,
a partner of Pinnington Training
and Development in Cambridge,
will lead a seminar on "Customer
Service - Meeting Expectations".
Jaime Watt, chairman of Thomas,
Watt, Cohen & McCall
Advertising, London, will lead a
seminar on "Marketing and Image
Development."
The brochure swap will provide
an opportunity for participants to
pick up any quantity of newly
updated brochures from the County
of Huron and from other tourism
operators. Table space will be
provided for the display and
exchange of brochures. Participants
are asked to bring their own boxes
or bags to take brochures home.
Anyone wanting more
information and a registration form
for this event, contact Mary
Turford at The Maple Leaf Motel
in Goderich (524-2302 or 1-800-
665-8242) or Cindy Fisher or Mike
Pullen at Huron County Planning
and Development Department
(524-2188) before April 15 if
possible.
