"We do not want a halfway house in the village where violent offend- ers and parolees are housed," said Councillor Steve Sparling. "It's a classic case of 'not in my backyard' but we say it's an issue of safety." Reeve Dave Lee agreed. Except for a paragraph concern- ing group homes, Official Plan —11 Achievement Tina Burkholder of the 1st Blyth Pathfinders was the first to earn her Canada Cord, the highest achievement in the Guiding movement. The presentation was done Feb. 22, Thinking Day, at the Blyth Public School. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 31, 1993. PAGE 3. Proclaiming the gospel at CRC Greeters at Blyth Christian Reformed Church on Sunday were Gerrit and Nel Boven. Rev. Heersink preached on II Corinthians 5: 11-21. Is God's love reflected in us? he asked. Can others see we are different in our every day lives? Every Christian is an ambassador of Jesus Christ, the billboards on the highway of life. Does your neighbour or your classmates know you're a Christian because your life conveys it? Some don't know the meaning of salvation, he said. Have we told Greeters at Blyth United Church, March 28 were Vera Badley and Bea Chambers. Ushers were Earl and Shirley Fyfe and Lance and Melanie Bearss. In charge of Junior Congregation was Michelle Cronin while Bonnie Shannon looked after the nursery. Rev. Ramirez opened the service with call to worship. "Jesus Shall Shine" was sung, followed by responsive reading. Scripture reading was from John 11: 17-45. John Ramirez introduced Niget Ming from Bermuda to the congregation. He is visiting through the high school band exchange in Bermuda. The beautiful floral tribute was placed by Lloyd and Donna Sippel and family, in loving memory of Donna's mother, Mrs. Burnett who passed away.
