Masonic Lodge No. 303 in Blyth was host to a number of Ruling Masters and Past Grand
Lodge officers March 15 when it was officially inspected by the District Deputy Grand Master,
John Elliott of Blyth. The Mason leaders are (back row, left to right) Jack Lee, Edward East,

Council defers decision
out of the amendment.
"We do not want a halfway house
in the village where violent offend-
ers and parolees are housed," said
Councillor Steve Sparling. "It's a
classic case of 'not in my backyard'
but we say it's an issue of safety."
Reeve Dave Lee agreed. "We
have no problem with a home for
the mentally challenged but our vil-
lage is not equipped to handle crim-
inals. We have no police
Council wants this sentence left department here."
Bermuda student attends service
Amendment No. 97 was passed by
council at their March 23 meeting
to allow progress on property des-
ignations.
The amendment defines what a
group home is and what it provides
and includes the sentence "...but
excludes a place of detention, cor-
rection or probation for individuals
with a violent criminal history or
record."

Your coloured picture must be presented to the store or
business that sponsored it, by 5:00 p.m. Saturday, April
9,1993. Each sponsoring store will award a cash prize In each
category of $2.00 for first prize and $1.00 for second prize.
Enter as many pictures as you wish - the more you enter the
more you could win! Be sure to fill out your name, address
and telephone number.
WINNERS:
Winners from each store will be published in The Citizen on
Wednesday, April 21, 1993. Prizes will be awarded by the
sponsoring merchant by April 14, 1993.

Achievement
Tina Burkholder of the 1st
Blyth Pathfinders was the first
to earn her Canada Cord, the
highest achievement in the
Guiding movement. The
presentation was done Feb.
22, Thinking Day, at the Blyth
Public School.

Proclaiming the gospel at CRC
Greeters at Blyth Christian
Reformed Church on Sunday were
Gerrit and Nel Boven.
Rev. Heersink preached on II
Corinthians 5: 11-21. Is God's love
reflected in us? he asked. Can
others see we are different in our
every day lives?
Every Christian is an ambassador
of Jesus Christ, the billboards on
the highway of life. Does your
neighbour or your classmates know
you're a Christian because your life
conveys it?
Some don't know the meaning of
salvation, he said. Have we told
Greeters at Blyth United Church,
March 28 were Vera Badley and
Bea Chambers. Ushers were Earl
and Shirley Fyfe and Lance and
Melanie Bearss.
In charge of Junior Congregation
was Michelle Cronin while Bonnie
Shannon looked after the nursery.
Rev. Ramirez opened the service
with call to worship. "Jesus Shall
Shine" was sung, followed by
responsive reading. Scripture
reading was from John 11: 17-45.
John Ramirez introduced Niget
Ming from Bermuda to the
congregation. He is visiting
through the high school band
exchange in Bermuda.
The beautiful floral tribute was
placed by Lloyd and Donna Sippel
and family, in loving memory of
Donna's mother, Mrs. Burnett who
passed away.
