coming year will be $10. Maureen
Bean told about the seven girls,
who met at her house to learn more
about the Women's Institute. Betty
Archambault and Tina Empey
helped with this project.
Ruth Jardin, curator, read the
history of Auburn for 1992, the
changes, council, saw mill,
Chamney Sanitation, church,
women's institute, campgrounds,
special birthday, anniversaries,
births and deaths. This was very
interesting.
Mildred Lawlor demonstrated the
making of paper butterflies, then
showed some finished ones.
The annual meetings of the
Brussels/Ethel United Church
pastoral charge were held recently.
Rev. Cam McMillan noted in his
report that the exterior of the
Brussels Church was repainted
during 1992.
The Ethel congregation is now
worshipping full-time at the United
Church after sharing worship
services with the Presbyterian
Church for over 10 years.
A congregational photo album is
being compiled for both churches
and will provide a perpetual
memory of what life was like in
1993.
The Town and Country
Homemakers will be renting the
Brussels church to serve a hot meal
twice a month. It was felt this will
make good community use of the
disabled access facilities
constructed over the past three
years.
Total membership for the charge
stands at 345 plus 67 non-resident
members.
The Brussels/Ethel pastoral
charge budget was approved at
both the Brussels and Ethel
meetings as well as other financial
and committee reports.
The Brussels United Church
Women's groups reported an active
year and the Brussels Church
School report was printed in verse.
Ethel United Church has also had
a busy year. The exterior brick
work has been completed and new
carpet installed in the sanctuary.
The annual church school dinner
held at Grey Central School was
well attended and the White Gift
Service was a huge success.
New elders elected at Brussels
United are Spence Scott, Bob
Smith, Ruth Sauve. Stewards are
Merle Hoegy, John Cousins, Norah
Stephenson and Barbara Barton-
McMillan representing the U.C.W.
and Katherine Workman is the new
Clerk of Session and Ruth Sauve
will be chairperson of the
Memorial Fund.
Newly elected stewards at Ethel
United include Evon Cochrane,
Grace Smith and Marj Struthers.
