Brussels Livestock Report
Active demand for fed cattle, steers
Sales at Brussels Livestock for
the week ending March 19 were:
fed cattle, 480; cows, 249; veal
calves, 103; sheep and goats, 85;
stockers, 500; and pigs, light run.
The market at Brussels Livestock
traded on an active demand with
fed cattle selling a strong $2 higher.
Cows sold steady.
There were 340 steers on offer
selling from $98 to $104 to the
high of $109.75. Two steers
consigned by Earl Geisel, West
Montrose, averaging 1525 lbs. sold
for an average of $103.86 with
sales to $108.75. Twenty-one steers
consigned by Cunningham Farms,
Lucan, averaging 1441 lbs. sold for
an average of $100.63 with sales to
$109.75. Nineteen steers consigned

The fifth meeting of the Auburn
Eggstra Special Chickens was held
on Saturday, March 6 at 9:30 at
Helen Lapp's home.
During the meeting members
read from books, learned about
deboning chickens, microwave
safety tips, freezing and defrosting
chickens and beating eggs. The
recipe made during this meeting
was chicken almond apple stir-fry
which was delicious.
The meeting closed at 12 noon.
The sixth meeting of the Auburn
Eggstra Special Chickens was held
on Saturday, March 13 at 9:30 a.m.
at Helen Lapp's. During the
meeting members discussed uses
for egg cartons and egg shells, then
read from their books. They learned
about coating chicken, what to do
with leftover chicken, egg yolks
averaging 1345 lbs. sold for an
average of $101.92 with sales to
$108.50.

with sales to $108.25. Twelve
steers consigned by Beetonia Farms
