1992 with a surplus of $564 coun-
cil learned at their March 2 meet-
ing.
Council then went about spend-
ing money by paying a $25 mem-
bership fee to the Huron County

Twelve tables were in play at the
weekly euchre which was held in
the W.I. Hall, Belgrave
Wednesday, March 10.
Winners were: high lady, Mrs.
Hilda Vincent; low lady, Mrs.
Agnes Bieman; closest to 60 on
card, Mrs. Edith Coultes; most lone
hands, Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse;
high man, Mrs. Kay McCormick
(playing as a man); low man, Mel
Jacklin; closest to 60 on card, Mrs.
Lloyd Appleby (playing as a man);
and most lone hands, Mrs. Agnes
Gaunt (playing as a man).
There will be euchre again

Council decided to donate 25
township pins to the Ist Blyth Scout
group to be used for handing out at
the Canadian Jamboree in Alberta.
Council agreed to share with
other participating municipalities
on a use-by-resident basis, any
operating expenses incurred by
Wheels Away for the 1993 fiscal
years beyond costs covered by user
fares, Ministry of Transportation
subsidies and donations.
A grant of $200 was forwarded
to the Belgrave/Blyth/Brussels
East Wawanosh council recently
voted not to increase their remuner-
ation and expenses for 1993.
The remuneration limits are:
Reeve Ernest Snell--$1,852.50
for regular meeting, $1,210 for spe-
cial meetings and $1,418.19 for
mileage and telephone for a total of
$4,480.69.
Councillor Maurice Hallahan—
$1,365 for regular meetings,
$1,311.50 for special meetings and
$738.62 for mileage and telephone
School Fair Board.
Gravel tenders were opened from
five companies. Council accepted a
tender from Joe Kerr Ltd. of Wing-
ham for gravel at $2.87 per tonne
for supplying, crushing, loading
and spreading 19,500 metric tonnes
of granular 'A' gravel on township
roads. A tender for 5000 cubic
yards of granular 'A' gravel to be
crushed and stockpiled was accept-
ed from Lloyd Jackson of Listowel
at $1.25 per cubic yard.
Council will meet again on
March 24 to set up the budget.

No increases for council
New manager
John Perrott of Orillia is the new manager at Belgrave Co-
op. Mr. Perrott took over Feb. 18 after Teeswater Co-op
purchased Belgrave and Auburn Co-op from United Co-
operatives of Ontario. He had been with UCO for 25 years,
the last six as manager of the Orillia Co-op.

from vacation in Florida
Mr. Jack Taylor and his grandson
Kevin Taylor of Ripley returned
home Friday, March 5 after
spending one week with Jack's son
Dr. Ronald Taylor of St. John's,
Newfoundland.
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Aylestock
and family of Glencoe, and Gail of
toronto and Mr. and Mrs. Ron
Delbergue of Lucknow spent
March 7 weekend at the home of
Mrs. Sybil Straker, RR 1, Belgrave.

April is Cancer Month and
hundreds of volunteers will embark
on an extensive campaign to raise
funds for the Canadian Cancer
Society.
In an effort to help make their
task easier, the Huron County Unit
of the Cancer Society will host a
volunteer workshop on Saturday,
March 27 at the Ontario Ministry of
Agriculture and Food offices in
Clinton.
The workshop will run from
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature
guest speakers from the Cancer
Society's regional offices in
London.
All Cancer Society volunteers are
invited to attend. Lunch will be
included and there is no registration
cost. For more information on the

Winnie Vincent, Blyth attended her

Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Campbell
returned home on Tuesday, March
9 after an enjoyable three-week
vacation to Kissimmee, Central Fla.

The Canadian Cancer Society is
always happy to welcome new
volunteers. In April, volunteers
canvass door-to-door and help to
sell flowers during Daffodil Days.
Volunteers are only required to
work a few hours out of the month,
but their contributions are felt for
many years.
