Five of the grade two-threes played the recorder. They read their environmental stories. They also sang Baby Beluga, and the Magic Penny. On Feb. 19, the students at Blyth Public School celebrated Interna- tional Friendship Day. A friendship chain was made when the children decorated and cut out a self portrait. Primary children exchanged friendship flowers and talked about what things make a good friend. The day ended with the students from grades one to four singing "It's A Small World" as they joined hands. The grade seven class went cross-country skiing on Thursday, Feb. 18. Most of the class had skis of their own and anyone who had extras lent them to someone without skis. They left during the Last Friday, Feb. 19 students at Brussels Public School had a visitor. Let's first describe George Beith. George Beith is an older man. The first thing I saw in him was his kindness, long beard, and very much the accent because that is what really caught my attention. He was dressed in farmer like clothing a flannel shirt, a suede vest and wool pants. On top of his head was a fur hat. For the next hour and a half he shared with the grade seven/eight students of Brussels and Grey School, the poetry of Robert Service. He did this completely from memory! Now for those of morning recess. They skied along one of the trails behind Mr. Elliott's cabin. The class got back at noon and everyone was tired out. you have trouble memorizing your phone number, well Mr. Beith never missed a line. He also wore period costumes to add more authenticity of Services' words. The reviews of the students were mixed. Some would have liked to hear more music. One thing about George Beith was he was a fast talker so you really had to listen well and if you did not listen you would not get the right answer. Visitor at Brussels P.S.
